Summary


The Community Engagement Specialist will support Save the Childrens Hurricane Harvey relief and recovery efforts. The Community Engagement Specialist will build and maintain key partnerships which enable Save the Children to deliver recovery and psychosocial support programs for children. The Specialist will collect and record high quality data in a timely manner and will regularly monitor programs in their area of responsibility. They will provide logistical and operational support for PSS program implementation. As a frontline representative of Save the Children, the position holder is required to ensure safety and protection of children and families that they come in contact with and represent the agency values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity and Integrity.



What Youll Be Doing (Essential Duties)


  • Support close-out of Save the Children's Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery programs (30%)
    • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, childcare, community organizations and other child-focused community partners

    • Closely monitor and support community based organizations sub-grantees to implement quality and timely recovery activities for children

    • Manage partner communication, providing timely follow-up and collecting feedback

    • Track and report program expenses

  • Contribute to success of Psychosocial Support Programs (30%)
    • Ensure program materials are supplied to the partners. Order additional program kit materials and arrange delivery to partners as needed.

    • Conduct site visits or regular program fidelity checks

    • Assist with building and maintaining relationships with schools, partners and agency contacts

  • Assist with data for Harvey Recovery Programs (20%)
    • Ensure quality and timely collection of program data and program reports

    • Prepare or provide material for accurate reports for internal and external purposes

    • Record and track monthly and quarterly beneficiary information

    • Identify and gather quality multimedia assets and testimonials for promotion

  • Logistical and Operational Support (15%)
    • Support program trainings and facilitate logistics for successful events trainings and workshops

    • Provide support for distribution of donations or materials for program implementation

    • Maintain logs and records of procured inventory or GIK items as needed

    • Perform other duties as requested by Associate Director

  • Liaise with the Emergencies Team within US Programs (5%)
    • Participate in related meetings and conference calls to support recovery programming efforts


Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in area of expertise

  • High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
  • Professional level of specialized knowledge to manage complex tasks, programs or projects and exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters related to functional area
  • Strong oral and written English language communications skills and the capacity and willingness to be flexible and accommodating in a challenging working environment.

  • Familiarity with Agresso financial management software

  • Minimum of two years experience managing and implementing large grant programs to more than 10 child-serving institutions simultaneously


Preferred Qualifications


  • A Bachelors degree in education, early childhood, social work, mental health, or a related field

  • Previous experience with psychoeducational programs and special needs populations

  • Previous experience with Save the Children systems and policies

  • Strong preference for a candidate with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, especially Microsoft Excel

  • Experience using or exposure to Total Reach Calculator and Save the Children data management methods
