KTNV, The Scripps ABC Station in Las Vegas, Nevada is searching for an aggressive and experienced Specialty Producer. The Specialty Producer will plan out signature pieces for our news talent that may include setting up interviews, researching topics, and coordinating with all the key members of the KTNV news staff.

We are looking for someone who can produce strong emotional content, with the additional skills to shoot, write and edit materials when needed. We also seek someone very organized with demonstrated experience in keeping a special projects calendar in order and on track.

We need someone dedicated with excellent planning and communication skills, who knows how to find the impactful enterprise stories that will resonate in the Las Vegas market.

Your application must include a link to a demo reel of your shooting, writing and editing abilities.

You Will:

  • Research, develop,and plan investigative storiesor special projects. This may include live or prerecorded newscasts/local programs and editing or repurposing existing content to enhance the end product.

  • Shoot video, write scripts, and edit content when needed.

  • Work closely with all assigned talent and content producers as stories are produced for multiple platforms.

  • Maybe responsible fortip line, emails, and responding to viewers.

  • Keep special projects calendar on track.

  • Conduct interviews or be called upon for field producing work.

  • Work with editors to utilize graphics and other tools to visually enhance storytelling.

  • May lead special projects,conduct interviews, and enterprise original story ideas.

  • May be involved in repurposing existing content to be showcased in a unique way.

  • Other duties as assigned.

You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field,

  • 3-5 years experience as a news writer or producer with a background in enterprise or investigative jounalism preferred.

  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel law.

  • Solid understanding and demonstration of multimedia file formats and strong computer skills.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws impacting operations.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in posting content to television station websites.

  • Must be a team player and adapt to developing situations quickly.

  • Must be an excellent conversational writer with solid news judgement and a positive attitude.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
