UTHealth is currently seeking a SQL developer with minimum 2 years' experience in the data life cycle starting from extraction of data to reporting and visualizing. The position requires the individual to have strong analytical skills, hands-on experience in complex SQL writing, and an understanding of data modelling. Prior experience in healthcare industry and related knowledge in quality reporting is a plus. This position involves writing and documenting moderate to complex applications, operationalizing and coding outcome metrics, and utilizing analytical skills to interpret findings. Experience with EHR data preferred.

  • Designs and documents analyses for quality metrics and other reporting metrics
  • Complies with industry specific measure criteria and documents accuracy in coding
  • Codes moderate to complex queries and measures and ensures that the programs conform to departmental standards.
  • Ensures all appropriate data sources are utilized to maximize the outcome of key quality metrics
  • Perform quality assurance checks on extracted data
  • Ensures that the specifications provided are thorough and detailed in order to avoid problems in coding development.
  • Consults resources and other materials as needed.
  • Provide technical support for reports, dashboards or other tools. In addition, maintains excellent documentation of systems and report methodologies. Maintains a library of model documents, templates or other reusable knowledge assets.
  • Develop ETL code/data pipelines to load and integrate data from a variety of databases and files
  • Manage metadata documentation related to source data, transformations and models published to end users.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc queries and data preparation requests/extracts
  • Apply knowledge of clinical and administrative healthcare data related to claims, electronic medical records, clinical services, enrollment, and surveys, among other types.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, physicians, and other researchers and contributors
  • Thoroughly and adequately tests all functions of the coding for measures and programs prior to submitting it to the, lead analyst, manager, or researcher for quality review and verification.
  • Prepares the proper paperwork and follows correct procedures for implementing new programs or changes in production.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of completed/existing programs and systems.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for project implementations and maintenance. Must understand source data from applicable business systems and be able to query those systems. Deliver recommendations, improvement plans, as well as documentation of code and processes.
  • Manage timely flow of business intelligence information to users by meeting deadlines and being responsive to requests.
  • Use effective communication and problem-solving techniques to facilitate team performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and programming.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Two years of programming experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
