About the Role:

Card Product Team focuses on delivering creative solutions for SVB and our clients through a set of commercial credit cards. As a Sr. Data Analyst in Card Product Analytics and Strategy Team, you translate data into actionable solutions and promote information-based decision to drive card business growth and manage the card portfolio efficiently. You will work cross-functionally to identify business /process issues and execute the fix in your data analytics exercise. An effective Sr. Data Analyst designs and develops program methods to explore new data sources, consolidate and analyze unstructured dataset to generate executable insights for the end-to-end Card product process. The ability to communicate effectively with all business parties on analytics results and the passion for using data and analytics to drive business value are crucial for this role.

Once Here You Will:

Use Data and Analytics to solve problems:

  • Interact with Product and other business teams to identify questions and issues for data analytics and experiments
  • Provide timely reporting and deliver card analytics through first-hand information and in-depth data analysis
  • Develop and automate reports and dashboard. Build and prototype solutions to provide insights that address card product priorities
  • Identify the gaps in periodic production process, provide troubleshoot and enhance the process with analytical support

Be an analytics explorer:
  • Find and test new sources of information, exercise creative problem-solving and operationalize analytic solutions to drive lasting value
  • Exam and ensure data quality and accuracy for further analytics and reporting
  • Explore the capabilities and tools of SVB to the Card Team with purpose and passion
  • Apply mathematical analytics on daily process to discover the algorithm and decision factors, which will provide the insights on the further statistical model development
  • Synthesize data analysis into easily understandable stories and present the solution
Be a business partner:
  • Partner with Card Product Managers and other key stakeholders (e.g. Credit, Ops, Sales, etc.) to deeply understand business challenges / needs and take actions on fixing daily production issues
  • Work with analytics professionals Bank wide to propose solutions of enhancing card automation process

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor /Master's in Mathematics, Statistics, or Finance, Accounting, Economics other relevant quantitative field
  • 2+ years post-collegiate work experience in a data analytics and /or business intelligence, prefer in financial industry
  • Experience with statistical analysis languages like Python or R, strong proficiency with SQL
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge with the ability to distill and synthesize various data into cohesive insights, analysis, and/or recommendation
  • Strong analytical acumen, with experience building product intuition, solving problems using data and providing business insights
  • Experience creating data models, leveraging analytics and using presentation tools to tell compelling stories with data
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills; ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans
  • Results driven and execution oriented
  • Solid communication and relationship building skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in tech, finance, consulting or related industry
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling methods, machine learning algorithms, and various advance analytic techniques
  • Some knowledge of card product such as commercial vs. consumer, risk factors (credit /fraud), bank's role in card issuance, card feature and functionality used by business and commercial clients
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to frame business questions in data and analytical terms and translate analytical results into business terms
  • Detail oriented and keen on detecting business need in analytics
