As a Sr Experience Designer on the Retail Experience Design Team, you will work with a highly collaborative team of experience designers, researchers, strategists, product managers, and engineers to create compelling people-friendly solutions across digital and physical touchpoints within and around our Best Buy retail stores. The Retail Experience Design team works to build and foster customer relationships through our retail store. By optimizing the in-store experience, we empower the employee to respond with confidence and excellence at every step of our customers shopping journey.

We're looking to bring on two Sr. Experience Designers to help us continue shaping the future of shopping at Best Buy. One role will focus on interactive installations for our physical stores. The other role will focus on designing in-store and online solutions for mobile activations. This role is remote eligible.

What will you do?

Work with Experience Design teams, leadership, and stakeholders to gain approval on solutions

  • Presents work to Customer Office leadership and product teams for feedback and evangelism.
  • Presents designs, articulates approach, and facilitates a discussion to gather feedback and alignment from all key approvers and stakeholders.
  • Participates, presents, and facilitates Experience Design critique sessions to aid in understanding of best practices, conventions, patterns, and to receive and provide feedback to improve experience solutions.
Defining the Experience: Communicating vision and design strategy
  • Understands business, technical, and customer/employee inputs to define new concepts or modify existing customer/employee experiences.
  • Takes on an indirect leadership role when collaborating and working with internal Experience Design team consisting of Experience Designers, Associate Experience Designers, or Intern Designers.
  • Contributes to the definition of the scope, desired outcomes, design approach, and high-level strategies and solutions for new or existing customer/employee experiences.
Customer/Employee Research & Testing: Interpreting customer and employee needs into strategy/solution design
  • Facilitates evaluation of experiences within area of responsibility to properly identify research needs.
  • Collaborates with Experience Design team and Research team to craft and finalize testing approach to support the outcome of a comprehensive testing plan.
Team Leadership
  • Leads with a balanced design process.
  • Leads the quality assurance effort within the product team.
  • Provides indirect guidance and mentorship to Associate Experience Designers and Experience Designers
Center of Excellence/Discipline Maturity & Brand Expression
  • Advanced knowledge of and contribution to various brand guidelines, pattern conventions and standards, and process efficiencies related to quality assurance and center of excellence/discipline maturity.
  • Supports efforts to develop and evolve best practices through external and internal practitioner community.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current portfolio or case studies that demonstrates advanced knowledge and skill in Experience Design.
  • 2+ years of experience in Service Design, Experience Design, or 6 or more years in a Design related role (e.g., Information Architect, Industrial Designer, Visual Designer, Product Designer, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience working in a large, multi-channel environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Experience Design principles and deliverables (e.g., story boards, wireframes, designs, interactive prototypes, etc.).
  • Advanced to expert skills with tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Mural, Miro, Visio, OmniGraffle, etc.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Experience working in an Agile work environment.
