Primary Job Functions:

Job Title:             Sr. Manager Global Corporate Renewables

Reports To:         Director Global Corporate Renewables

Job Status:          Exempt

Basic Job Functions:

Corporate procurement of renewable energy is one of the fastest growing segments in the renewable energy industry and a key driver of future growth at First Solar. The Sr. Manager, Global Corporate Renewables will help First Solar be the market leader in corporate renewables by originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing deals for large-scale, off-site solar plants with corporate energy buyers. The Sr. Manager, Global Corporate Renewables will prioritize market opportunities and develop/deploy a strategy to maximize First Solar deal flow with corporate energy buyers. He/she will develop and submit offers, negotiate term sheets, and negotiate and close asset sale agreements and long term PPAs. He/she will work closely with the Regional Directors of Development to develop these commercial offerings served by First Solars development pipeline of utility-scale, free-field solar projects.

This Sr. Manager Global Corporate Renewables must be highly driven, an adaptive learner, able to drive innovative deal structures, and move quickly in a rapidly growing market. The candidate must have a strong understanding of wholesale power markets, PPA contract negotiations, and solar power project development fundamentals and project costs. He/she will support the growth of First Solars corporate renewables business to be a meaningful and sustainable contributor to the companys financial goals.

The Sr. Manager, Global Corporate Renewables is responsible for originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing deals for large-scale, off-site solar plants with corporate energy buyers.  


  • Demonstrated track record successfully sourcing, proposing, structuring, negotiating, and closing highly complex, multi-$100M transactions.
  • Experience with asset sale and PPA transactions with utilities and corporate energy buyers preferred.
  • Experience in sourcing, building, and managing strong industry and customer relationships.
  • Experience in national and international energy transactions. Power trading experience preferred. 
  • 7+ years of sales or business development experience, ideally in the power industry and/or renewable energy market sector; if less than 7 years of sales or business development experience, some experience in management consulting or investment banking at a top-tier firm.


  • Bachelors degree from a top-tier University required
  • Master of Business Administration degree a plus

Required Skills/Competencies:


  • In addition to the job experience outlined above the individual most be capable of and possess the ability to:
    • Analyze and interpret legal contracts, business journals, financial reports, and other documents as required to perform the job requirements.
    • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees or regulatory agencies as necessary.
    • Prepare written communications and PowerPoint presentations that are clear, succinct, and compelling.
    • Communicate and coordinate effectively across a wide range of both internal/external and technical/non-technical stakeholders
    • Present effectively to senior executives and in front of large audiences at conferences.
    • Negotiate persuasively, weighing trade-offs in real-time and considering customers underlying needs


  • The individual is required to possess strong mathematical and analytical skills.


  • The individual is required to possess the ability to clearly and rapidly define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Cleary be able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written and verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


  • Strength in the use of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, email, and internet browsers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Integrate, implementation, tasks, cost estimates, develop, identify and qualify
  • Develop long term strategic plan for sourcing volume and bookings from the corporate renewables market segment.
  • Develop sales plan (long-term/strategic and short term) for region or market segment
  • Source and build new customer relationships and sales channels.
  • Build First Solar capabilities as required to grow the corporate renewables business.
  • Develop deep knowledge of state/regional market structures and product offerings available to customers in each distinct market.
  • Proactively work with Government Affairs to facilitate the creation of new markets.

PPA Sales:

  • Develop trusted professional relationships with each customer
  • Develop competitive commercial offerings
  • Develop/deliver presentations/offers to customers
  • Lead transactions from origination through contract execution; negotiate MOUs and final PPAs
  • Own sales forecasts and goals and provide regular updates to forecasts

Competitive Analysis:

  • Develop competitive analysis; key competitors, product offerings, pricing, etc.  through a strong customer relationships and deep knowledge of competitor products and offerings
  • Secure front line market intelligence and communicate to the broader organization.

Knowledge/Technical Proficiency:

  • Financial markets participants, structures, pricing trends
  • Understanding and communication of FS modules, system designs and technical performance & FS product advances
  • Be current with FS competitor offerings and gather competitive intelligence
  • Current in all customer, industry, government affairs and regulatory policy/news

FSLR Commercial/Legal Offerings:

  • Assist Marcom (corporate marketing and communication) on the development of marketing collateral including press releases, articles, and technical papers. Support press events, conference exhibit participation

Reporting Relationships:

  • The Sr. Manager, Global Corporate Renewables will work closely with the execution team, Regional Directors and Project Finance team to structure transactions and support transaction


  • This position also requires the ability and willingness to travel regularly by automobile, train and airline, both domestic and international
