Position Overview

As the Sr. Manager of Procurement, you will contribute to and lead the implementation of procurement strategies to support the company's growth and performance objectives. Areas of responsibility include purchasing, sourcing, and product innovation coordination. You will also champion continuous improvement in our processes, our people, and our infrastructure.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate our people, service, product, and brand objectives in the development of procurement strategies to support the company's growth and performance objectives
  • Lead the strategy and execution of the procurement department to drive company value in end-to-end supply chain efficiency, improve service performance and delivery optimization. Strategy encompasses:
    • Purchasing to include order placement and contract execution
    • Sourcing expertise to include evaluation of best value, contract development, negotiation and supplier performance management
    • Product Category expertise to include category landscape, innovation offerings and exploring new ideas
  • Champion continuous improvement culture with structured prioritization aligned with business strategies
  • Develop and manage the corresponding department budget
  • Lead and prioritize activities of the procurement area to include product innovation activities. Foster innovation from our suppliers
  • Directly interacts with functional groups, such as product development, marketing and sales operations for all R&D activities
  • Lead and manage global sourcing initiatives, product cost negotiations, supplier programs and assist in product life cycle management
  • Contribute to an effective S&OP process to include ongoing KPI review and reporting. Specifically, track overall supplier fulfillment (i.e. reliability); supplier responsiveness (i.e. On-time, In-full OTIF); also develop key supplier scorecards
  • Contribute to the review, analysis and implementation of (SAP) system enhancements to support the efficient execution of the company's procurement, supply and demand planning strategies and customer needs
  • Collaborates with Vice President of Operations and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions
  • Cascade strategies by creating and reviewing analyses of activities, costs, and operations. Develop corresponding forecast data to determine department progress toward stated KPI goals, and coach accordingly
  • Responsible for building, developing, and retaining talent necessary to drive a high-performance team, along with ensuring succession planning is in place.
  • Foster learning environment by supporting training and development of team
  • Provide appropriate recognition as team reaches continuous improvement goals and objectives
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with MBA preferred
  • Ten years of relevant experience preferable in Consumer Packaged Goods industry
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
  • Certifications such as those in Six Sigma, Operations or Inventory Management a plus.

  • Office Environment: Most of the duties of this position will be perform inside an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Field Sales Environment- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be moderately loud in warehouse areas.
