Job Description Summary:

The Senior Scientist, Immunology is responsible for initiating, designing and performing scientific experiments aiming at the discovery of novel small molecules that modulate pre-mRNA splicing of therapeutically relevant immunology disease and oncology targets. The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources on research and drug discovery-related projects.

Job Description:

Primary duties/responsibilities:

  • Initiates, designs, directs and executes scientific research and experiments. Interprets and communicates results as part of multi-disciplinary team(s).
  • Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Identifies/initiates new projects. Provides thought leadership and scientific advice to research leadership on projects and areas of expertise.
  • Presents findings internally and at external scientific conferences and publishes his/her work in well-established and peer reviewed journals, subject to internal scientific and legal approval.
  • May supervise the activities of other personnel or assume the role of project leader to lead a team on a special project(s).
  • May oversee academic collaborations and/or be designated as a subcontractor or co-PI on research grants.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

* Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.

  • Ph.D. with postdoctoral training in Cell, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology with 5 +years of working experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or academic environment.

* Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.

  • Deep knowledge in immunology and oncology, and molecular, cell biology and biochemistry, working experience with cellular models to support immunology, and oncology and other human diseases drug discovery programs is required
  • Small molecule drug discovery experience in inflammatory diseases, and Oncology and/or genetic diseases is highly desirable
  • Research experience in transcription and RNA splicing machinery is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to be scientifically creative, think analytically and independently and apply advanced problem-solving skills to complex, scientific challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
