The Human Resources Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Staff Recruiting Coordinator in the DC office.  The Coordinator assists the Staff Recruiting Manager with the logistics, scheduling and administrative aspects to the full-cycle recruitment process for all non-attorney positions as well as all temporary positions for the U.S. offices.  The Coordinator will report to the Staff Recruiting Manager and Director of Support Staff.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


1. Scheduling interviews (telephone, in person, videoconference) which includes requesting conference rooms, sending calendar invitations, notifying the lobby of each office, requesting VC technology as needed, creating recruiting checklists, updating viRecruit and updating the Open/Filled document. Also, greeting all DC office candidates.
2. Submitting resumes daily to the appropriate Directors and Managers for review for all non-attorney positions reviewed by the Director of Support Staff.
3. Emailing candidates the software assessments and Firm application in advance and ensuring the information is received and disseminated to the Director of Support Staff prior to the interview.
4. Maintaining the viRecruit database which includes: entering/accepting candidates into the database, entering interview information, following up for feedback, closing applicant files and sending self-identification emails to candidates as needed.
5. Posting new positions on the Firm website, Intranet as well as other external sites.
6. Contacting employment agencies when new positions open. The Coordinator is the primary contact for employment agencies and job boards.
7. Conducting reference checks and verifying dates of employment.
8. Hiring full-cycle temporary staff.  Contacting temp agencies, tracking all temp candidates, sending resumes to directors and managers for review, scheduling interviews, extending temp offers, ensuring the temp agencies complete a background checks on the final temp candidate, processing conflicts for the final temp hire and contacting HR/IT internally to initiate a login/email and proper access for the temp.



1. Back up for conducting verification of employment calls for staff, legal support and associates firm wide.
2. Managing the name changing process for employees to include several administrative processes.
3. Along with the Director of Support, ordering background checks, checking the status of the background checks and communicating when the background check clears. 
4. Processing expenses in Chrome River for staff recruiting. 
5. Providing clean-up in viRecruit.  Merging positions and cleaning data as needed.
6. Providing back up to others within the Human Resource department when they are out of the office as well as conducting orientation as needed.



• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of two years of human resources experience with some recruiting experience.
• A minimum of 40 wpm typing.
• Proficient in a range of computer software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).  Experience working with applicant tracking systems is a plus. 
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills. 
• Attention to detail is paramount. 
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written. 
• Ability to handle a number of responsibilities simultaneously. 
• Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary. 
• Ability to make sound decisions and demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Some recruiting knowledge would be helpful, but not required.
