Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership, to cross-functional teams to define the required scope and direction.
  • Lead the architectural design by gaining cross-functional alignment.
  • Enabling seamless integration of multidisciplinary technologies by providing leadership, vision and technical problem solving.
  • Continually developing oneself by staying up-to-date with current and emerging technologies related to medical device design, materials, clinical practices, and scientific literature.
  • Collaboration with internal business partners to develop the business needs
  • Collaboration with marketing and clinical teams to develop the clinical needs
  • Define, resolve, manage, and/or optimize tradeoffs between conflicting requirements\u202F\u202F
  • Design and partition new system architectures and identify/manage associated interfaces\u202F
  • Identify, track, and actively reduce technical, project, and business risks\u202F\u202F
  • Independently plan, manage and prioritize tasks/projects, track progress toward overall goals, and provide periodic updates to management\u202F
  • Lead the design reviews through defining and managing review scope, expectations and Technology Readiness Assessment.
  • Appropriately apply technical knowledge and systems engineering tools/methodologies to drive program activities and reduce risk\u202F
  • Take a direct lead technical role on certain high priority or challenging technology, process, or test efforts when the needs of the business so dictate\u202F

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in\u202FElectrical, Software, or related areas with minimum 7 years industry experience or Masters/Doctorate with 5 years industry experience.\u202F
  • Previous experience as a\u202Flead design architect
  • Previous experience as lead systems integration officer\u202F
  • Demonstrated independent ability to perform system engineering activities listed above\u202F

  • Proficiency with software tools for requirements management, engineering analysis, and statistical analysis.\u202F
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills\u202F
  • Experience with medical devices and working in a regulated industry\u202F
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma or related product development methods and processes\u202F

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment\u202F
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things\u202F
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle to provide technical leadership\u202F
  • Experience with system engineering for combined hardware, software systems.\u202F

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience or Master's degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%

Functional Description: Technical Individual Contributor

Designs a complete and complex framework, system or product. Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.

Functional/Business Knowledge:

  • Possesses advanced knowledge of technical principles and theories. Recommends solutions in support of functional objectives tied to overall company objectives and strategies.


  • Demonstrates significant technical expertise, collaboration with others and independent thought. Anticipates potential complex problems requiring an in-depth evaluation. Demonstrates strategic thinking and commercial/industry understanding in functional projects.


  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other colleagues.
