Your role and responsibilities
Job Summary - The Strategic Buyer oversees all aspects of Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Development, Contract Governance and Spending activities with the primary objective to minimize the organization's overall costs by leading the development and continuous improvement of global sourcing and procurement strategies within their area of responsibility.
- Develops and implements procurement strategy for respective area, i.e. increase best cost country sourcing with new suppliers, drive standardization and value engineering, manage total cost of ownership (TCO), improve the organizations buying patterns in cooperation with the dedicated Lead Buyer.
- Drives effective vendor management and build up long term relationships with preferred suppliers; Audit and improve/develop key suppliers on a periodic basis
- Executes purchasing budgets, plans, policies, systems, and procedures that will achieve the companys strategic and OPEX cost objectives
- Makes supplier selection decisions and allocates supplies according to Best Cost (Country) Sourcing while leveraging global markets and global organization.
- Identifiesand executes cost reduction opportunities/programs/strategies to reduce costs (Supply Chain)
- Ensures compliance with relevant risk, environment, safety and other regulations.
- Selects and qualifies Suppliers in collaboration with the respective business.
- Develops senior level business relationships with Suppliers. Negotiates and maintains long-term contracts and partnership agreements with Key Suppliers.
- Negotiates pricing, terms and delivery times with established and new suppliers.
- Works closely and cross-functionally with all other departments at the site and manages purchasing in cross-organizational projects.
What is required for this role
- BA degree or equivalent in business or related subject or relevant experience.
- Procurement Experience in the Automotive Tier 1 or 2 industry is a plus.
- At least 3+ year strategic sourcing experience supporting a global matrix organization.
- An industry expert with experience in manufacturing industry.
- Strong communication skills. Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- High convincing ability, skilled negotiator. Winning personality promoting collaborative work.
- Mental agility and adaptability.
- Internationally minded and experienced.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 50%).
