INVISTA has a unique opportunity available for a cross-functional leader that desires to shape the future and work on significant initiatives. This individual must be entrepreneurial and self-driven with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to think creatively. The role this person will assume is Strategic Commodity Leader for Indirect Services & Materials and will have responsibilities in North America that could extend globally.

The Strategic Category Leader transforms, innovates, and collaborates within a portfolio of commodities - all of which are undergoing significant opportunistic disruption due to the pace of global innovation. The role will develop forward looking commodity strategies and business processes, creates data-driven metrics, and drives a culture of mutual value and partnership. Key focus areas are establishing strategic partnerships with suppliers and leading multi-company efforts that can support INVISTA and the wider Koch Enterprise. The role will report to the Global Sourcing Leader and will be located in Houston, TX.

A successful candidate:

  • Has good critical and economic thinking skills to recognize and optimize value possibilities

  • An effective communicator that is able to be a change agent and can clearly articulate solutions and value drivers to business leaders

  • Able to engage in a respectful challenge process and collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as operations, engineering, innovation groups, and other Koch companies) to drive transformation

  • Embrace and apply analytics knowledge and processes to enhance performance

  • Continually transforms the role to deliver greater value
Possible commodities include Water Treatment Services, Cooling Tower Services, Electrical, Process Columns, Non-Destructive Examination, Tank Construction and Repairs, Engineering Services, and other materials and services.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Transforming existing procurement processes and relationships into strategic relationships with the right suppliers.

  • Identifying and leading experimentation, innovative ideas and commodity management strategies.

  • Provide customer focused solutions by connecting and partnering with key constituents, such as leadership, operations and suppliers. Resolve urgent sourcing needs in a timely manner.

  • Work beyond solving the current opportunity by proactively finding ways to improve the current state with a solution that is scalable across INVISTA and other Koch companies.

  • Effectively understand and incorporate analytics to drive data-driven solutions and modeling into repeatable processes.

  • Strive for virtuous cycles of mutual benefit with suppliers. Research and understand the capabilities of suppliers. Develop personal relationships with key suppliers to truly understand their motivations from the aspects of how they create value and their incentives and how those can be matched with our needs to create mutual benefit; establish regular supplier review meetings to facilitate communication and performance feedback.

  • Apply appropriate contract terms, terms of reference, outline agreements, and pricing structures to new and existing suppliers.

  • Communicate with stakeholders to invite, seek and then embrace feedback and challenge. Use both to be additive to solutions.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years professional work experience in business role.

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Procurement, Analytics, Finance, Supply Chain, or Business degree or 3+ years' experience working within an MBM Organization.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word for writing memos and reporting, Excel (look-up formulas and pivot tables), and PowerPoint (Presentation creation including but not limited to chart and graph formation).

  • Experience leading transformative or strategic initiatives

  • Willing and able to travel and work at other site locations approximately 15-30% of the time.

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team to accomplish a goal

  • 1+ years professional experience in a Sourcing or Procurement role

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related business field

  • SAP or other ERP procurement system experience

  • Experience in financial modeling and Decision-Making Framework development

  • Experience starting a business or being part of a start-up

  • Experience with data analysis or statistical modeling
