As part of our Structural Engineering Design Team, you will primarily provide planning, design, and construction support for a variety of projects related to industrial facility engineering. You will provide input to the preparation of construction drawings and specifications. You will prepare construction specifications and calculations to support the design. You will build and maintain critical relationships with peers, customers, subcontractors, and vendors. You will provide technical direction to Computer Aided Design (CAD) technicians. You will perform a supporting role in the development of technical proposals and will provide preliminary design information for design-build proposals.

  • The majority of your day would be spent leading and/or contributing to the design effort on one or more projects.

  • Perform structural evaluation and design of nuclear related industrial facilities.

  • Prepare complex studies, calculations, reports, and other supporting documentation.

  • Supervise the preparation of construction drawings related to new and existing structures.

  • Clearly convey information to internal and external clients.

  • Assist in the development of scope of work statements and man-hour estimates.

  • Assist with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements.

  • Travel occasionally, as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with Structural Emphasis) from an accredited four-year college or university. If you have an advanced degree, that's even better.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in commercial, nuclear, or industrial facility maintenance or design.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual-citizenship.

  • It would be a plus if you have experience using AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, Midas FEA, or Mathcad.

  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.

  • Must be outgoing, organized and assertive. You'll also need to be able to network and build relationships with a wide variety of people.

  • Must have skill using the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Motivated self-starter who displays a passion for solving problems, interacting in a team environment, and meeting established deadlines.

  • Previous experience working with or for the Idaho National Laboratory is a plus.

  • Prefer if you were registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Idaho or able to become registered by comity from another state.

  • Due to security requirements, you will need to have or be able to obtain a DOE Level "L" security clearance within 6 months of hire.
