Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

GI TAU Business Operations serves the broad GI Therapeutic Area Unit (TAU) by facilitating and managing identified non-pipeline division priorities for functions within the TAU such as global and local business initiatives with project planning, communication and implementation in a cross-functional global matrix environment. This role will report to the Associate Director, Business Operations, GI TAU and will be assigned various tasks in support of ongoing Business Operations initiatives. The position will offer a unique perspective into a world-class biopharmaceutical company, combining real-world experience in business operations and project management with an overview of the pharmaceutical industry and clinical development.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Event Planning:

  • Provide operational and logistical planning support for annual GI Summit (~ 200 stakeholders), interfacing with meeting planning vendors, A/V vendors, Facilities, and visual design vendors.

Contracting activities and KOL engagements:

  • Supports contracts processing for the TAU, interfacing with Contracts, Legal, Compliance and Finance functions, including facilitating generation, execution, tracking and archiving in all appropriate systems according to local procedures and policies
  • Contributes to transparency reporting reconciliation activities in accordance with Global and Local Compliance requirements (e.g. TRS reporting for U.S. Sunshine Act, EFPIA reporting)
  • Supports documentation archiving and retrieval in support of routine R&D Ethics & Compliance monitoring

Communications Support:

  • Supports maintenance of GI TAU Collaboration/team sites in SharePoint

Administrative Support:

  • Coordinates documents and correspondence, including letters, reports, emails, presentations, memos, faxes, etc.; uses appropriate tools for required work including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel to track, document, report data, and maintain web pages.
  • Acquires, reviews, inputs, and formats accurate data into spreadsheets, databases and other electronic tools.
  • Work with Business Operations team to optimize existing or implement new processes to better support project teams and the broader organization
  • May support presentation content and documentation development as needed
  • May provide additional ad hoc tactical support to GPM team and/or Business Operations as needed

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
  • Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelors degree and have completed at least their sophomore year.
  • The ideal candidate exhibits strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; he or she also possesses the ability to work well in teams, effectively manage multiple projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong level of computer literacy with Microsoft applications, Adobe applications
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
