A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced System Engineer who, under minimal supervision, will design, develop, and assist with all computer systems required to operate the Mill with the greatest possible value creation through selection, design, procurement, installation, development, commissioning, maintenance, and enhancement of the Mills Process Control and Operational Technology (OT) systems.


  • Work as part of a larger team to implement Operational Technology standards across all manufacturing and controls environments.

  • Participate in the implementation, documentation, and support of systems and applications required in the manufacturing environment.

  • Support for upgrade and\or replacement of systems as part of a technical strategies.

  • Maintain Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) patching solution in support of Industrial Control Systems and Automation solutions. Work with multiple vendors to verify and deliver appropriate patches to sites.

  • Maintain an anti-virus solution in support of Industrial Control Systems and Automation solutions.

  • Develop reporting tools, metrics, and scorecard data for OT team and customers

  • Occasional travel to participate in field work and projects at manufacturing sites.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills

  • Interpersonal skills for supporting remote customers

  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • At least 3 years supporting Process Control, IT, and/or OT systems in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated knowledge of networks, including all associated hardware and software (e.g., switches, firewalls, servers, virtual machines, fiber optics, Windows Domain, and Active-Directory)

  • Experience with or demonstrated aptitude to be trained on DCS, PLCs, and instrumentation

  • Proficient skills in MS Office Suite

  • Ability to participate in a rotating on-call support schedule.

  • Ability to lift and move computers, servers, and other small network devices

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or pulp and paper technology

  • Experience with pulp and paper operations preferred

  • Experience working with analyzers, instrumentation, and controls preferred

  • Experience working on and administering Honeywell QCS, Honeywell TDC, Honeywell Experion, or Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC systems is preferred

  • Ability to troubleshoot valves, transmitters, levels, and control systems preferred
