Job Description

Job Summary:

Product Development is key and as pioneers of consumer maritime electronics you will be working closely with our engineering team to develop new and exciting technology for the maritime sector.

You'll be immersed in challenging and diverse projects, surrounded by colleagues who share your passion and dedication. Our fast-paced, learning orientated environment utilises the Scrum methodology and will give you the opportunity to develop new skills every single day.

The successful candidate will we be acting as a systems architect working closely within a larger development team. You will also be collaborating closely with engineering teams in Europe, Asia and the USA to develop new product features within existing and new user facing products. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in the scoping, development, and testing of new products and systems.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Must be Educated to degree level with either a BSc in Software, Electronic or Systems Engineering. Minimum 4 years' experience in a System Architect role/position.
  • Should be able to demonstrate good knowledge in the majority of the following subjects :
    • Communications networks, especially CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
    • System design methodology (e.g. UML, sysML, SASD)
    • Electronic design
    • Software design
    • Programming/scripting skills (e.g. python, VB, SQL)
    • Familiarity with sailing and or power boating (advantageous but not essential)

Duties and Tasks

  • Work with the Product Management team, to understand new features and solutions in the pipeline. Interpret requirements and specify the technical details necessary to realise those solutions.
  • Decompose required functionality across products. Identify, specify and control product interfaces and interactions.
  • Identify project dependencies, work with project managers to ensure coordinated, timely introduction of features across multiple product development streams.
  • To create product specifications ensuring essential features, standards and compliance requirements are captured at the outset of projects.
  • Assist teams create comprehensive test plans.
  • Represent and promote the long term goals of system development
  • Recognise and promote design re-use
  • Perform compliance testing of products
  • Track emerging technologies, innovations, and obsolescence
  • Competitor awareness - understand who the key competitors and emerging threats are. Assess the technical strengths and pitfalls of the products and feature sets they offer

  • Comfortable working in cross functional engineering teams from different disciplines: hardware, software mechanical, test as well as external parties

  • The role may require travel, both national and international.
