The Defense group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) mission to keep our homeland and its citizens safe. We provide solutions to improve the Nation's defense by providing software, systems engineering, IT, training and logistics and fleet management solutions.


The contractor shall serve as a skilled Technical Writer for the UAVIO Project and be responsible for developing and editing technical documents that accurately communicate information to various audiences. During the execution of these requirements, through photography as well as documentation of installation, removal, and setup procedures, etc., the Technical Writer may be exposed to other contractors proprietary information.The Technical Writer will also serve as the [Project Engineer] for this contract participation, coordinating and reporting to the Program Manager on topics such as Customer relationship developments, Contract developments, Team status, Team reviews, Team health and well-being, and Contingency operations.


Requirements for this position include:

  • Analyze subject matter and audience in order to plan clear and accurate presentation of materials. Create detailed instructions for others to follow
  • Assist in the production of technical materials on topics specific to UAVIO
  • Capture and edit photographs as necessary for use in documentation
  • Use substantive writing, editing, and technical communication skills to develop training guides, and operating, installation, troubleshooting, or maintenance manuals associated with the technical equipment and systems within UAVIO
  • Review and update existing technical documentation, including managing and tracking document lifecycles
  • Develop written communication materials for a wide range of internal and external audiences. Determine which style and structure is best suited for the intended audience
  • Create software documents such as use cases, test plans, and user guides
  • Analyze, coordinate, and compile technical information into technical publications
  • Ensure UAVIO technical information is properly documented
  • Implement technical communication and software quality assurance best practices and procedures
  • Communicate technological developments to experts, end users, and other audiences
  • Deliver quality products in a fast-paced and dynamic engineering enviroment.


  • Minimum associate degree and at least five (5) years of experience in skills identified above


  • Formal degree requirement may be evaluated and waived if applicant provides at least seven (7) years of experience
