Moog Inc. has an opportunity for a Animatics Customer Service Technician on 1st shift at our Murphy, NC location.

Job Summary: The Animatics Customer Service Technician performs a variety of moderately complex electro-mechanical tests to SmartMotor production or customer service hardware to ensure product functions per specifications. The ACS Technician determines cause of any hardware failure by performing the following duties.


  • Ensures production and customer service quality standards are met while achieving delivery goals.
  • Sets-up, calibrates, tests, and troubleshoots circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies using standard and specialized lab equipment.
  • Performs evaluations of returned items, identifies specific failures, and determines cause of failures.
  • Reads and interprets test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedures and required equipment.
  • Tests functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change and vibration.
  • Calibrates test instruments according to specifications and procedures.
  • Connects product to test equipment such as signal generator, frequency meter, or spectrum analyzer.
  • Reads digital and analog measurement devices which indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
  • Compares results with specifications and records the test data.
  • Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure.
  • Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results.
  • Assists in devising test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units.
  • Work independently to perform assembly operations in fast paced work environment
  • Utilize PC to program software/firmware onto Smart Motor product
  • Perform testing operations on Smart Motors
  • Troubleshoot basic electronic and mechanical assembly problems
  • Perform assembly, touch-up and final assembly of Smart Motors
  • Perform basic mechanical assembly utilizing small hand tools and crimpers
  • Recognize and make recommendations for procedural and/or process changes
  • Work and interact in a team environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree with electronics focus, or technical certification/training, or 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Possess knowledge of manufacturing, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Possess excellent troubleshooting skills on the component level
  • Ability to operate all types of test equipment including oscilloscopes, computer controlled specialized test equipment, function generators, meters, power supplies, and special test fixtures.

Preferred Requirements:

  • IPC 610 certification
  • Prior manufacturing experience using tools and gauges
  • Prior experience with set-up testing processes, including Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and Acceptance Testing Process (ATP)
