OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive community on campus by recruiting students with diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, and involvement.

We're currently looking for a new team member in our Norman office to serve as a Tour Coordinator.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Campus Experience team with coordinating daily campus tours, group tours and experiences, K-8th experiences, and other campus events.
  • Assisting in managing daily tour and campus visit operations and guest experiences.
  • Assisting in planning recruitment events for prospective students to engage with the university.
  • Planning and coordinating training for staff and student employees regarding tours, serving guests, and other components of campus experiences.
  • Working with prospective students and their families as a trained admissions counselor to assist them throughout the admission, scholarship, housing, financial aid, and enrollment processes.
  • Also developing relationships with resident and non-resident high school counselors to inform them of opportunities at OU for their students.
  • Assisting in the recruitment initiatives within a territory in Oklahoma by traveling to area high schools to recruit students, giving presentations to students and families, reading applications, planning strategic outreach and communications, becoming knowledgeable of campus and financial resources, and assisting in other responsibilities of recruiting students.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience,AND:

  • 0-24 months of student services, event planning, guest relations, or program coordinating experience


  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Highly organized and has a keen sense of details when it comes to projects and deadlines
  • Empathetic and strong initiative in leading others
  • Strong initiative to solve problems quickly
  • Keen sense of customer service and serving others
  • Creative ideation and ability to train others
  • Comfortable public speaking, presenting in front of different audiences


  • Valid driver's license

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone. Must be able to pull, push, lift, engage in repetitive motions, communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception and clarity; and hear, including receiving detailed information orally.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of The University of Oklahoma
  • 25months+ of student services, event planning, guest relations, or program coordinating experience
