Responsibilities

Perspecta has an immediate need for aUnix/Linux Subject Matter Expertin Washington, DC.

Responsible for analyzing infrastructure automation requirements and code development. Scripting to build required automation and tools on an ad-hoc basis. Deploy and decommission client environments for multi and single tenant hosted applications following established processes and procedures. AIX Systems Administration, IBM Power Systems architectures, Power VM, including LPAR, virtualization technology, performance tuning, capacity planning.

Monitor system and application performance to detect errors, apply testing procedures/methodologies (e.g. diagnostic software) and provide interpretation of data. Lead incident management calls, coordinating resources through resolution. Support transformation of established infrastructure using automation. Support building new systems environments, and upgrading/patching existing ones, through use of automation tooling.

Qualifications

A BS/BA degree with 10 to 12 years experience or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or a PhD with 7+ years experience.

  • Experience in Installation, Configuration, and Administration of UNIX/Linux based middleware platforms (i.e. IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ, Tomcat, Apache Web Server, Resin).
  • UNIX/Linux/Windows system administration (command line level), including experience with PowerShell and Scripting (Python, JSON, Ruby, BASH).
  • Support JAVA Applications Services with dependencies on F5 load balancers, external web service calls, proxy gateways, JDBC and JMS/MQ.
  • Strong experience with these scripting languages: PowerShell, JSON, Python, Terraform, Ruby for Chef, Java, Bash, YAML, Cloud Formation, AWS CLI.
  • Cloud Migration, automation and DevOps tools: Such as: Chef Server/Chef Automate, Puppet, or Ansible, Jenkins, Maven, Ant, SonarQube, Nexus, Jira, Confluence, Crucible/Fisheye, Git/GitHub, Subversion, Packer, Terraform, experience required.
  • Strong experience with AIX, and UNIX operating systems and with NIM and Satellite Server.
  • Extensive experience with DB2, Oracle, AIX, POWER hardware, and IBM PowerVC/Openstack.
  • Demonstrable experience with high availability architectures and concepts (HACMP/PowerHA)
  • Prior experience with strategies for database backups and file system backups.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD testing and deployment tools such as Jenkins.
  • Strong experience with various Firewall architectures and Network Security concepts.
  • Middleware Certifications: IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ, Tomcat, Apache web server.
  • DevOps Tools Certifications: Jenkins, Chef Certification, Puppet.
  • Flexibility and willingness to quickly learn new tools/methods.
  • Strong team player and ability to work independently and ability to be a self-starter.
