Job Description

About the role:

  • Support the Head of U.S. Benefits in execution of the annual employee health and welfare and retirement plan processes including evaluation, communication and implementation to all benefits-eligible employees within the U.S.
  • Provide support to the Benefits Operations team to ensure proper program implementation and operations as needed and supporting escalations as Tier 3 resource.
  • Partner with the People Advisory Group (PAG) to ensure that benefit-related policies are in accordance with plan documents
  • Recommend and assist in developing new or modified benefit plans or policies
  • Oversees and executes all compliance-related activities for health and welfare and retirement programs as necessary
  • Develop and deliver reporting dashboard on plan performance. Conduct benchmarking to evaluate market competitiveness on an ongoing basis.

How you will contribute:

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for company health and welfare and qualified and non-qualified retirement plans in the U.S.
  • Partner with Benefits Operations team and external vendors to implement the annual renewal process and Annual Enrollment, including rate and content updates to enrollment sites and supporting materials
  • Independently implement and manage multiple employee benefit programs and applicable vendor relationships as required
  • Serve as project lead or team member for multiple HR and interdepartmental projects
  • Partner with the people Advisory Group to ensure benefit-related policies are current and to facilitate ongoing effective communications of benefit offerings and initiatives
  • Together with Head of U.S. Benefits, evaluates benefit policies, programs and practices looking for continuous improvement
  • Ensure execution of required compliance activities and governmental filings for all benefit programs including working with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and execution of appropriate control activities
  • Plan and manage benefit initiatives in all U.S. sites, including: benefit seminars and annual enrollment fairs in partnership with people Advisory Group and US Wellbeing Committee
  • Develop and maintain analytical dashboards of plan performance and utilization. Work with Benefits Operations and Benefits Finance tasks to build and maintain appropriate budget-tracking/reporting
  • Serve as level III escalation point for benefits-related employee mattersStays informed and current on local laws, and legislative changes improving employee benefits and proactively manage processes and programs to remain compliant

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Strong experience in planning and executing employee benefits plans and their administration within the U.S.
  • Working knowledge of health and welfare and retirement plan requirements within the U.S.
  • Strong analytical skills, project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to use Excel to a very high standard and summarize data in a way that allows you to effectively frame a business case or recommendation to solve for an issue or challenge
  • Business acumen and knowledge of the life sciences industry, preferred

Leadership

  • Ability to motivate and direct team members towards achieving individual and team goals both with and without direct responsibility for supervision
  • Ability to engage with and influence at all levels including Head of Global Benefits, TBS colleagues, vendors, other internal and external constituents, and contacts within the business unit
  • Exceptional skills required: building trust, influential communication, and ability to communicate and present effectively verbally and in writing

  • Support Head of U.S. Benefits by analyzing solutions to a variety of problems

  • Demonstrate excellent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

  • Ability to deal with and relate to all types of people and levels within the organization including HR colleagues, TBS colleagues, managers, and employees
  • Vendors: Health and welfare and retirement plan providers
  • Strong communication and consulting skills; experience in developing creative solutions to meet business needs
  • Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills. Experience working in a matrix or collaborative environment. Strong influencing skills
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate complex concepts well

Innovation

  • Identifies areas where programs or positions are not aligned to market and work with manager to resolve

Complexity

  • Proficiency with HR information systems and experience with benefit provider systems
  • Ability to manage ongoing workload demands of planned and unplanned projects and requests
  • Demonstrated experience working with a dynamic workforce and peer set

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS/BA, preferably in a business field
  • Minimum 8-10 years of benefits experience in a corporate environment. Some global experience preferred
  • Positive attitude, team-orientation and strong collaborative approach
  • Experience working in pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
