Vertex Inc is recruiting a Functional Consultant Associate - Field Consulting to help grow the Vertex Consulting organization. This individual will learn how to deliver Vertex consulting services which will focus on the business tax process as it relates to ERP applications, SAP, Oracle, Retail or In-House applications, and the implementation of Vertex's tax technology solutions, primarily O Series, Vertex Cloud and VITR.

This Field Consulting role is a unique opportunity to learn the consulting business, while delivering services in support of the deployment of Vertex tax technology products. This role requires the ability to quickly grasp Vertex product knowledge and have some familiarity with general implementation methodology. The role will require the ability to effectively identify and deliver tax process solutions and other value-added services that contribute to Vertex's revenue and profit objectives, while ensuring client successes.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Learn the Vertex product portfolio and execute on client's statement of work (SOW).
Provide support to larger Consulting Team, Solution Managers and Senior Consultants.
Participate in most phases of a Vertex software implementation by adhering to Vertex's implementation and services delivery methodology.
Exercise sound judgment to manage the day to day client relationship and expectations.
Actively collaborates with the Practice Leaders and Solutions Delivery Team to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
When appropriate, may assist consulting sales representative in developing statements of work.
Other functions may be assigned and management retains the right to add or change the duties at any time.

We encourage individuals possessing the following minimum qualifications to apply immediately:

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work or work experience.
  • ERP, Tax/Tax Technology experience or Tax Professional Certifications and/ or Credentials a plus.
Work Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in working in a business, software or services organization.
  • Software implementation and a familiarity with Tax Technology a plus.
Specialized Knowledge:


Some familiarity of Vertex's history, products and service offerings.
An understanding of client services and project management activities.
Basic understanding of business process, including Finance, Tax and Supply Chain.

Other Requirements:

  • Travel may be required (approximately 30 - 50%)
  • Work location is flexible (Berwyn, PA is preferred)
  • Billable time requirement - minimum of 60% Utilization
