Job Description

SVB Startup Banking-Portfolio Management-Vice President

SVB Startup Banking is focused on building deep and authentic relationships withearly-stagefounders, investors, and ecosystem partners to improve their probability of success.Our team is curious, bright, and diverse in professional and personal backgroundmade up of formeroperatorsat early and growth stage startups,VCs,consultants,attorneys,and everywhere in between.

The Vice President- Portfolio Managementrole is responsible for acquiring andmanaginga portfolio of pre-Series Astageclients.

  • Build & develop strong relationships with key clients and stakeholdersin the Seattle market.
  • Educate prospective clients around SVB platform and ownclientexperience.
  • Operateclientportfolio as a franchise by tracking and analyzing key metrics. Manage expenses related to operations and ROI.
  • Analyze and manage internal and external data sources to identify top clients and prospects, potential cross-sell opportunities,predict fundraising needs, and extract industry trends.
  • Monitorand trackportfolio health related to compliance and credit risk.
  • Ownership over increasingcustomer satisfaction (NPS) across portfolio.
  • Build programming, events, and content to meet in-market goals and support client base.
  • May include managerial responsibilitiesof junior team members.

While working with the top startups inSeattle, you will gain a deep understanding of SVB's platform, products & services, while also developing your own personal thesis on the ecosystem and unique ways to support growing founders in an entrepreneurial environment.


  • 3+ years in the innovation and/or tech community.
  • Must reside in the Seattle area or willing to relocate.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Candidate shouldhave ademonstratedinterest in the innovation / tech community anddesire tounderstandmarket dynamics,trendsand investor relationships.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize taskswith effective time managementin a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work in a team environmentandcomfortable working independently.
  • Analytical and comfortable making data-informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of banking products and operations, along with technology sector experience(EnterpriseSoftware,Fintech, Consumer, Hardware)is a bonus.
