We develop role-play simulations where users engage in conversations with virtual humans and learn how to lead similar conversations in real-life that result in improved social, emotional, and physical health. We work with more than 300 health, education, and govt organizations in and outside of the U.S. To date, more than 1 million people completed a Kognito simulation. Our team of 50+ people includes learning scientists, psychologists, software engineers, graphic artists, writers, and operation specialists.

The Vice President (VP), Sales is responsible for developing and executing the business units overall sales and channel strategy. The VP will be responsible for acquiring, maintaining and growing our business with all clients, covering all markets in the U.S. This includes solution-selling techniques in education, government, and healthcare markets. The role reports directly to the EVP, Sales and collaborates with Product Management, Marketing, Legal, Operations, Finance, and Information Technology to create business strategies that deliver innovative products to our customers, increase market share, and improve gross margin.


Responsibilities


  • Develop annual sales plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives that delivers targeted revenue and EBITDA growth.

  • Direct the implementation and execution of sales policies, process, and best practices.

  • Build, develop and manage sales management and sales team capable of carrying out needed sales and service initiatives.

  • Establish mutually beneficial relationships with potential clients and customers.

  • Develop product solutions and sales strategies that drive consistent, sustainable and profitable growth, along with long-term customer satisfaction based on market research and competitive analysis.

  • Negotiate sales agreements, pricing strategies and delivery models to increase client retention and revenue per student.

  • Work closely with marketing to develop effective promotional materials and sales campaigns that clearly distinguish Ascends value.

  • Initiate successful client engagement initiatives ranging from initial point of contact to onboarding and to the ongoing client success management and retention function.

  • Direct responsibility for managing and leading sales employees to deliver upon all sales goals in addition to creating personalized plans to help grow and develop each team members skill set.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelors Degree required; MBA is preferred

  • Five to ten years of progressive, successful experience in sales and sales leadership within education, government or healthcare

  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue goals and references to support it

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing sales organizations that have driven rapid revenue growth

  • Experience with SaaS, healthcare market and/or education market preferred

  • Strong business acumen, challenger selling, contract negotiations and excellent team building

  • PC proficiency, ability to train others in proper program utilization

  • Demonstrate ability and quantify success in managing corporate initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to exceed sales goals and meet deadlines

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and presentation skills

  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills

  • A history of building relationships with existing satisfied clients

  • Past success driving change by persuasively presenting one-on-one and to large groups

  • Possess a strategic view of business and a creative mindset and approach

  • Understanding of how to implement tactical plans to execute on emerging strategies and penetrating new markets

  • Past experience having successfully established sales practices, selecting, training, motivating, compensating, evaluating, sizing, establishing structure and setting goals

  • Knowledge of CRM and associated technology

  • Strong collaborative approach to business and ability to work cross functionally to accomplish organizational objectives

  • Travel as needed to visit with clients at their place of business, via telephone conversations, web-enabled software, and electronic correspondence as frequently as necessary to surpass sales goals

  • Review, assess and analyze results, key drivers and performance indicators regularly

  • Up to 50% travel is required
