REPORTS TO: SVP Agribusiness Capital

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for business development, credit administration and ongoing relationship management of large commercial agribusiness accounts. These accounts typically have $10 - $100 million or more in sales, may have multiple locations, and may also be regional or national in scope of business. Financial needs are typically complex including credit needs in excess of $10 million and the need for other financial services including cash management and leasing services. Accounts will be originated but also purchased, participated or syndicated loans in assigned industry. Develop an in-depth understanding of the assigned industry along with each customer and prospect in order to provide innovative and customized products and services to meet the needs of these accounts. Analyze financial statements, make credit recommendations and provide credit packages and services to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of the agribusiness customer. Work to meet marketing and servicing goals, ensuring credit and service quality standards are met. Help provide company, state and national level leadership complementary to the Associations politically and in related marketing. May provide leadership to industry team members, leadership in meeting marketing and servicing goals, and leadership in ensuring quality standards are met.

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:

None. Provide substantial direction and mentoring to Customer Support Specialists Operations staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

1. Level 25: Represent the Association as the relationship manager for select commercial agribusiness accounts. Maintain a portfolio of approximately $50-100 million of commitments. Level 26: Represent the Association as the relationship manager for select moderately complex agribusiness accounts including some multi-lender relationships. Maintain a portfolio of $100-300 million of commitments. Level 27: Represent the Association as the relationship manager for select complex and often multi-lender commercial agribusiness relationships. Maintain a significant portfolio size of $300+ million of commitments.

2. Level 25: Market credit and related services directly to commercial agribusiness accounts within the territory of the Associations. Assist in originating, structuring, making credit recommendations and closing on commercial agribusiness accounts in the $10-30 million range. Maintain constructive customer and prospective customer relationships. Assist teammates in executing a comprehensive calling plan designed to increase the Association’s market share for assigned industry. Ensure profitability of the total customer relationship. Level 26: Market credit and related services directly to commercial agribusiness accounts primarily within the territory of the Associations. Originate, structure, make credit recommendations and close on commercial agribusiness accounts in the $25-$50 million range. Execute a comprehensive calling plan designed to increase the Association’s market share for the assigned industry. Level 27: In addition, provide leadership and guidance to the assigned industry team in developing a comprehensive calling plan. Customer base and prospects may be located inside or outside of the territory of the Associations. Reflect a proven, consistent track record of team-leading performance and production as measured by new money, related product sales, interest rate spreads and fees. Emphasis will be placed on new business originated and balanced with purchased participations. Account size will be focused on relationships in the $50+ million range.

3. Solicit and maintain credit relationships with commercial agribusiness accounts through participated or syndicated relationships originated by other lenders.

4. Maintain close working relationship with retail lending staff for purposes of supporting existing customer relationships and willingly provide marketing and relationship support for related accounts not currently financed by the Associations.

5. Level 25: Maintain a high level of commercial lending and assigned industry knowledge. Level 26: Maintain a high level of commercial lending and assigned industry knowledge. Represent the Associations at various industry and company events as needed. Level 27: In addition, be recognized within the company and within the assigned industry as an expert and as one of the premier lenders when compared toother lenders serving this segment.

6. Levels 25 & 26: Coordinate and communicate consistent interpretation of the Associations and division credit philosophies ensuring its implementation. Level 27: Provide input and leadership to the industry team regarding credit standards and underwriting philosophy while ensuring its implementation.

7. Level 27: Provide input and leadership to the Associations regarding strategy for product delivery and responding to industry-related issues.

9. Level 27: Demonstrate leadership within assigned industry team. This may include but is not limited to: coaching/mentoring team members, directing the customer selection agenda, championing change, and providing informal team leadership to the team.

10. Identify and participate in internal and external training.


Additional functions of the position may include:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Level 25: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, agricultural economics, animal science or a closely related field required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years experience working in the agribusiness lending field including credit underwriting and/or lending experience. .

Level 26: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, agricultural economics, animal science or a closely related field required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8-10 years agribusiness credit underwriting and/or lending experience.

Level 27: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, agricultural economics, animal science or a closely related field required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years direct agribusiness lending experience, including experience in leading multi-lender loan relationships.

Duties require:

• Recent lending experience with special emphasis on agribusiness firms preferred.
• Strong understanding of agribusiness lending including vertical integration and contracting opportunities.
• Ability to service broad and diverse industries, with in-depth knowledge of specific industries.
• Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills, and the ability and willingness to represent the Association.
• Demonstrated abilities in developing new business.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
• Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
• Proficient use of Relationship and other applicable computer systems and software applications as required.
• Exhibit strong team skills and embrace the team culture.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Extensive contact with Agribusiness Finance team members, assigned industry team members, and with other Association staff to include Capital Markets and Syndications, Appraisal, Legal, Finance, and Credit team members along with the Associations’ senior leadership. Meet with and the Associations’ staff to effectively administer special credits. Meet with customers and prospective customers including ownership, Board of Directors, Advisors, CEO’s and CFO’s as a part of the sales process. Develop positive relationships with influencers, commercial banks, other Farm Credit Associations, Farm Credit Banks, and agents as needed in conjunction with prospecting and loan servicing activities. Work with Farm Credit Administration, Farm Credit Council, outside legal counsel to ensure compliance and legal soundness of the portfolio. May be assigned other external responsibilities with boards, related organizations, and political groups on behalf of the Associations.


MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation (up to 40% overnight travel) to carry out essential responsibilities), with more travel (up to 50% overnight travel) required for Grade Level 26 & 27 positions.
