The Vice President of Home Clinical Services is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and oversight of the home modality clinical operation to ensure continuous quality improvement, compliance with regulatory standards/policies, clinical education, and positive clinical outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements for USRC home modality programs.
  • Develop protocols and procedures to minimize home modality drop-out rate.
  • Monitor company home clinical outcomes and develop/implement tools and initiatives to address and improve undesirable company trends.
  • Monitor home QIP, DFR, 5-Star and NHSN data to ensure completeness, timeliness and develop programs and initiatives to address outcomes that are less than excellent.
  • Develop, implement and monitor quality of care processes for the home programs' regulatory compliance in accordance with Company goals.
  • Ensure home clinical processes are maintained in accordance to company policy and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Develop home quality goals and measures.
  • Knowledge of and remain current with federal, state, local laws and regulations.
  • Direct Home Directors and Clinical Specialists to ensure compliance with all Company standards, guidelines, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Direct follow up on any/all deficiencies for all audits done internally (corporate) or externally (CMS & state specific.
  • Organize and lead Policy and Procedure committee to create and maintain clinical, education and QAPI policies.
  • Oversee development policy/procedure revisions and dissemination of new and revised policies including gap analyses.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and incorporate into home policies, procedures and emergency preparedness operations.
  • Serve as the Corporate Lead to ensure all home programs and patients are appropriately accounted for and prepared for natural or manmade disasters.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required for the job.
  • Partners with and provides expert professional assistance to executive team regarding clinical matters.
  • Ensure Directors and Clinical Specialists communicate completion status of Plans of Correction for internal and external surveys to SVP of Clinical Services and Operations management team.
  • Collaborate with program staff, regional management, and vice presidents of all USRC departments (including but not limited to Operations, Human Resources, Clinical, Technical, and Billing) to ensure compliance with company policy, federal/state/local laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with Medical Directors and nephrologists as needed.
  • Maintain a positive/collaborative relationship with physicians, state agencies and the community.
  • Oversee Home Litmos assignments and compliance reports; ensure Directors communicate results to facility management as needed.
  • Develop and implement home PCT certification review programs and ongoing mandatory continuing education.
  • Develop and implement clinic based in-service programs as directed or requested.
  • Develop and provide support for regional preceptor training programs.
  • Responsible for professional development of Home Directors and Clinical Specialists.
  • Responsible for training Facility Administrators and others as needed in home therapies.
  • Develop and implement training modules for national lab vendor processes and specimen handling for home department staff.
  • Supervise the hiring of clinical services staff as needed in collaboration with Home Directors of Clinical Services and the Human Resources Department.
  • Effectively communicates expectations; accepts accountability and holds others accountable for performance.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Requirements include:

  • Current RN license maintained as current and in good standing.
  • Four (4) plus years of clinical/dialysis management experience of a multi-site health care provider.
  • Five (5) plus years' experience with performing adult education preferred; knowledge of creative solutions to the challenges of adult learning, education and continuing education is required.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of dialysis industry standards and regulations governing ESRD and home modality programs.
  • Excellent leadership, team building and coaching skills.
  • Strong public relations skills for dealing with physicians, agencies, surveyors, etc.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Ability to read, analyze and write reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and direct reports in multiple locations.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in all USRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire.
