About the Role

Youll report directly to the Our Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) who is relying on you to provide overall success of our Technology Services system portfolio.

This is a vital opportunity in helping to shape and drive the future success of the company through our platform first strategy. You will also partner closely with our senior leadership to engineer our platforms, enabling our Code to Customer vision and delight our customers.

Provide excellence in Engineering: build, manage and mentor an organization of software development, test automation, and CI/CD engineers across multiple locations. You have an Agile mindset and are motivated by Agile principles where you lead a team that iteratively designs by experimentation. You are well versed in DevOps and continuously strive to deliver high quality code quickly by shortening the path to production. Bring a creative, engineering approach where code is used to solve our problems through automation and orchestration.

As a leader you will build integrated partnerships across all areas of F5. You are responsible for defining the mission of your team, inspiring and motivating your team to pursue that mission, and setting strategic goals for them to achieve in that pursuit. Provide a balanced understanding of business and technical objectives and your guidance is sought out because your decisions drive the best outcomes for both. Be responsible for a set of key performance indicators important to the business, and drive outcomes for our business by setting goals against these metrics. Lead cultural change and empower leadership at all levels to create a culture that allows collaboration and innovation to thrive. What You'll Do

  • Build and grow an elite engineering team through effective hiring, coaching, mentoring and development.
  • Understand the strategic and high-reaching position and engineer platforms that help transform the industry and the F5 Code to Customer roadmap.
  • Foster an engineering mindset culture that understands the importance of rapid testing, learning and iterative delivery.
  • Collaborate across multiple functions and disciplines at F5.
  • Identify and execute projects focused on eliminating waste and delay, reduce cost and accelerate delivery of customer value.
  • Define and drive leading engineering practices to increase velocity and productivity.
  • Be a Champion for Agile and Lean practices throughout F5.
  • Develop goals and roadmaps to help us scale quickly and sustainably.
  • Empower people through active feedback and continuous improvement practices.
  • Create an environment where decision making is enabled closer to the work.
  • Reinforce continuous innovation and a safe-to-fail environment where its okay to take chances, while also mitigating business-threatening risks.

About You

  • Validated senior leader with a track record of growing teams that deliver significant impact in high growth companies
  • Provide 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with proven ability to attract, retain, build, grow and develop premier teams.
  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree, MBA is a plus
  • Experience in working with multiple geographies, including leading multiple teams
  • Experience leading or partnering with product teams, across multiple products and value streams.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering styles, practices, and methods, including multiple pair programming styles.
  • Experience integrating and building solutions on business systems platforms, such as SFDC, ServiceNow, and Oracle.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and operating 24x7 software-based services in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of REST principles, and one or more modern programming languages, such as Java, Python, GO.
  • Showcase how you build, maintain, and run services in public cloud infrastructures, such as Azure, AWS, GCP.
  • Experience implementing a service-oriented architecture (SOA), including microservices and containerization.
  • Authoritative knowledge of technology trends and leading engineering practices.
  • Experience defining and launching new platforms and services.
  • Examine the changing landscape and use that information to define platform strategy and prioritize the problems to tackle.
  • Ability to take large, complex software projects and break them down into manageable pieces then deliver them optimally and on time with your team.
  • Leadership on multiple well-known platforms throughout their life cycles, from idea conception to release and maintenance.
  • Technically proficient and able to work closely and get agreement from product management.
  • Shown success leading a team of high-performing engineers.
  • Experience in SAFe, LeSS or other Agile scaling patterns, practices and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that allows you to influence and inspire other teams, create transparency, and drive focus on complex problems.
  • Player Coach You can guide others in their work, and even better than you can do it yourself.
  • Deep expertise in Cloud and SaaS.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing frameworks, and modern software development tools
  • Ability to drive successful integrated partnerships across an ecosystem of providers.
  • You enjoy having a strategic impact at an executive level, including interacting with other leaders on intricate issues and applying strong judgment and analysis toward important business decisions.
  • You bring a new and diverse perspective. You have exceptional communication skills. You are articulate with both technical and business partners. You are an active listener. You are strong across written communication as well as oral presentations.
  • You create effective frameworks to aid discussion of complicated topics. You are naturally conscious of who needs to know what, and proactively seek to share important context accordingly.
