Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Web Printing Capability Leader for our Color-Box business, which manufactures high-graphic corrugated boxes. The role will be based in Richmond, Indiana and will report to the Print Center Director of Operations. The Web Printing Capability Leader will provide strategic and tactical leadership to achieve key operation objectives on the Goss web press in the areas of safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost. The successful candidate will focus on safely improving productivity and reducing costs through process/equipment optimization and operator knowledge/skill improvement. This role will also be responsible for providing direction and leadership to a team of approximately 12 production employees working on the Goss web press.



Richmond, Indiana is located approximately 1 hour from the Indianapolis, Dayton and Cincinnati metro areas and is home to several colleges and universities. There are a variety of family-friendly activities within driving distance such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis and Cincinnati Zoos, Newport on the Levy, Horseshoe Casino, Riverbend Music Center and the Dayton Air Force Museum in addition to several major and minor league sports teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.



A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



  • Provide leadership through the application of Kochs Market Based Management (MBM) philosophy to achieve superior results

  • Drive a culture of safety and environmental excellence through critical hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation

  • Lead teams in the identification, development, evaluation and implementation of safety, quality and/or cost reduction initiatives and projects that add the highest value to the operation to drive continuous improvement

  • Lead and mentor employees to apply MBM in ways that are consistent with our Guiding Principles and Operations Excellence tools to improve capability and performance

  • Create an environment that promotes transferring knowledge to team members

  • Help transfer knowledge to team members and enable them to succeed

  • Proactively stay current in best practices and be a continuous learner

  • Constructively challenge the status quo to facilitate continuous improvement

  • Embody a sense of urgency and initiative to independently deliver expected results

  • Lead training sessions and presentations for employees and leadership

  • Champion planning for both outage and routine maintenance

  • Understand, communicate and align goals in the area of quality, production, safety and reliability

  • Drive process & equipment modifications that result in improved product quality, reduced variation and higher customer satisfaction

  • Major Quality non-conformance events are identified, owned, investigated and effective corrective actions are implemented to mitigate / eliminate waste


What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or GED

  • Proven understanding of web press operations, including effective interface with maintenance.

  • Experience developing and implementing improvement processes and projects

  • Experience managing multiple high priority tasks/projects with a sense of urgency.

  • Supervisory experience within a manufacturing, production, industrial or military environment.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Experience demonstrating effective communication (written and verbal), organizational, and planning/scheduling/execution skills.

  • Experience demonstrating interpersonal skills (i.e. coaching, mentoring, counseling, directing, delegating, advising, collaborating, influencing, etc.)




What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or higher in engineering


  • Experience in the corrugated packaging industry


  • Experience working with web printing presses similar to the Goss web press


  • Training experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment


  • Supervisory experience with responsibility for direct reports within a manufacturing operation


  • Proven organization optimization experience
