KBZK/KXLF the Scripps CBS Stations in Butte-Bozeman, Montana are looking for a Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ. We are part of the MTN Network with 7 stations across Montana. Bozeman is the fastest growing community in Montana, and we need a meteorologist that can tell a compelling weather story-forecast along with news stories.

We have the latest and greatest weather technology from The Weather Company and use the MAX platform for weather graphics, engage to post to social channels and weather apps, and our own weather patio just out the door from the studio. You will post to 2 Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, 2 web sites, and 2 weather apps along with on-air weather or news reports. You will be our Weekend Meteorologist on Saturday and Sunday and MMJ three days a week.

You will have plenty of opportunities to fill-in on the morning show and evening shows along with weather reporting and live weather shots during severe weather coverage. Southwest Montana has incredible recreational opportunities with 2 major ski resorts within an hour of Bozeman. Numerous and famous fly-fishing opportunities for summertime fun and Yellowstone National Park is in our backyard. Our commitment is to engage KBZK and KXLF viewers with relevant, timely news that's important to the local communities we serve.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Interpret and analyze weather data to create local forecasts.

  • Report information live in scheduled newscasts, during unscheduled cut-ins, on-line and on social media as needed.

  • Develop graphics and presentation of weather information.

  • Report on a variety of subjects and shoot, write, and edit stories for broadcasts and sweeps pieces.

  • Participate in certain aspects of newscast anchoring including some copy delivery and interviewing.

  • Participate in community outreach projects.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelors degree in Meteorology.

  • 1 to 3 years experience.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Thorough knowledge of weather data interpretation and forecasting.

  • Ability to deliver weather information in a concise and understandable way.

  • Ability to create computer generated graphics.

  • Computer literate, including newsroom computer systems.

  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.

  • Edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar equipment.

  • Proficient at posting content to various platforms.

  • Strong organizational, time management and problem solving skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
