Description
OverviewBanyan Tree Golf Course is located at Kadena AFB in Japan. It is an 18 hole course with pro shop, restaurant and breath taking views of the ocean.
Essential Responsibilities
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Banyan Tree Golf Course on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan.
This position reports directly to the Golf Operations Manager. This position supports the efficient and effective operation of all Kadena FSS golf activities, including two golf courses, driving ranges, pro shop, food service, and golf simulator facilities.
Provides operational support to the Golf Operations Manager, contributing to the day-to-day functioning of the golf facilities. Monitors the physical condition of the grounds, facilities, and equipment, and reports any maintenance needs. Enforces golf course policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and a fair and enjoyable experience for all guests. Provides accurate information about course details and procedures to the public. Delivers excellent customer service to all golfers, guests, and staff, addressing inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner. Assists in managing the procurement, receiving, storage, and inventory of supplies, equipment, and merchandise for the pro shop and other areas. This includes conducting regular inventory audits to prevent loss and maintain accurate records. Assist in analyzing retail merchandise sales, market trends, and pricing strategies to optimize sales and profitability. Provides informed recommendations on pricing, product selection, and promotional activities. Assists in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports. Tracks revenue and expenses, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines and identifying opportunities for improvement. Assists with daily cash management procedures, including balancing cash drawers and preparing bank deposits. Contributes to the development of long-term financial plans for the golf program. Assists in scheduling, organizing, and conducting golf tournaments, matches, special events, and promotional activities. Coordinates with hosting organizations and provides information and support to event participants. Monitors golf events to ensure rules are enforced and planned activities are carried out effectively. Assists with the recruitment, training, and scheduling of staff. Ensure that all employees are knowledgeable about and compliant with established policies and procedures. Assists in resolving simple employee complaints and provides on-the-job training. Identifies employee training requirements and provides input on employee performance to the Golf Operations Manager. Maintains open communication between the supervisor and co-workers, maintenance, internal and external customers. Provides input for publicity requests and marketing exposures for the golf course. Assists with collaboration on golf course construction projects, future planning, and asset management. May serve as the Golf Operations Manager and/or Assistant Golf Course Manager in their absence. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in the game of golf, golf maintenance practices, and knowledge of the rules and procedures of a golf course and tournaments. Must have knowledge of cash accounting control methods. Must have prior experience working tournaments at a golf course or sporting events. Skills in using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel) is required. Must have substantial golf-playing experience. Ability to solve simple arithmetic problems is required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and possess the skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to effectively work with management officials at all levels.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
