About the College/Unit/Department
The UGA CVM , founded in 1946, is a recognized leader among veterinary colleges. Ranked among the top five public university veterinary medical programs, over 200 faculty in seven departments welcome 150 incoming professional students annually. While dedicated to training future veterinarians and providing the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services to animal owners and veterinarians, the CVM is also a leader in the investigation of animal and human disease. Equipped with technologically advanced biocontainment facilities, such as the Animal Health Research Center, and a One Health Precision Medicine approach that builds on our research and clinical strengths, the CVM has a total research expenditure of $59.1 million. Nearly $12 million funds vaccine research addressing a range of public health concerns from avian influenza to COVID .

Position Summary
The Department of Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia invites applications for a nine-month tenure track faculty position with a focus on AI. This position will be tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The selected candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic, externally funded research program and to contribute significantly to the Department's research mission through collaborative efforts with other faculty. Areas of interest include AI-driven image analysis and computer vision for digital histopathology, integration of multimodal data (e.g., imaging and molecular ), AI-driven genomics and multi-omics analysis, and generative AI in disease modeling.
The successful applicant will join a team of 21 anatomic pathologists, 5 clinical pathologists, and 3 primary research faculty in addition to a motivated group of anatomic and clinical pathology residents, and graduate students. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching that spans undergraduate, professional, graduate, and resident programs. High quality diagnostic necropsy and surgical pathology services are provided to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as well as to pet owners and food animal producers in the State of Georgia.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
Preference will be given to individuals with post-doctoral training or similar research evidence in biomedical science.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
We seek outstanding candidates with an active research program and/or a record of applying computational biology and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to the study of animal and human disease. Candidates may use AI and computational methods as primary drivers of their program or as integrative tools within a broader disease-focused research program. Successful applicants will have a strong foundation in biological systems and the ability to address fundamental or applied questions in the pathophysiology of animal and human diseases.
Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, including undergraduate instruction and student engagement. The faculty can apply to affiliate with UGA's Institute for AI, an interdisciplinary unit that promotes AI across the campus and administers AI degree programs.
