Description
Newberry College invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing in the Department of Nursing. Assistant or Associate depending on experience in higher education and teaching in nursing. The Department of Nursing offers two pathways for earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree. The B.S.N. Prelicensure Track is for students who want to become nurses. The R.N.-to-B.S.N. completion track is for registered nurses (RNs) who already have an associate degree or a diploma in nursing, and who want to take the necessary courses to earn their bachelor's degree. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Newberry College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
This is a full-time, 9-month faculty role. The successful candidate will deliver high quality nursing courses leading to the BSN program. This is not a remote position. Please apply if you are interested in on-campus instruction at our beautiful location in Newberry, SC.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Teach 12-15 credit hours per semester (3-4 classes), modeling evidence-based practice and excellence in patient care.
Participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in faculty governance through service on Program, School, and College committees
Serve on departmental and college committees as assigned and contribute to accreditation and assessment activities.
Support the mission of Newberry College and the Nursing Department to prepare compassionate, competent, and ethical nurse leaders.
Provide advising and mentoring for students to advance student success.
Engage in professional and community service.
Demonstrate collaboration, collegiality, and support for program excellence.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Nursing (DNP, EdD or PhD) from an accredited institution. Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina or multi-state compact. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Minimum of three years of nursing experience. Mandatory on-campus days with some online instruction possible.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in campus-based or online nursing education. NE accreditation or similar accreditation processes. Public speaking, publication, and dissemination of research within nursing. Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). Passion for nursing education and to grow with the college and developing programs. Simulated lab experience in the academic setting or health system environment.
