Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to represent disabled claimants at all levels of the Social Security administrative process. This position offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in administrative law while making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable clients.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, empathetic, and eager to master Social Security law in order to provide exceptional client advocacy.
Requirements
Responsibilities
- Meet with prospective and current clients to evaluate disability claims
- Develop case strategy and manage caseload from application through hearing
- Review and analyze medical records and other evidentiary materials
- Draft pre-hearing briefs and legal memoranda
- Prepare clients for administrative hearings
- Represent clients at hearings before Administrative Law Judges
- Conduct legal research and stay current on Social Security regulations and case law
- Communicate regularly with clients, medical providers, and SSA personnel
- Maintain accurate and organized case files
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the Oregon State Bar (or ability to obtain admission promptly)
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
- Commitment to serving disabled and vulnerable populations
- Prior experience in Social Security Disability, personal injury or administrative law preferred but not required
