Arnold & Porter is seeking an Attorney Recruiting Specialist to support our San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. This role is integral to executing the firm’s recruiting strategy for summer associates, entry-level associates, and lateral attorneys. The Specialist partners closely with the Firmwide Director of Attorney Recruiting, hiring partners, Talent Development, and administrative teams to ensure a seamless and high-quality candidate experience from outreach through integration.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Recruiting & Campus Engagement
Partner with the Firmwide Director of Attorney Recruiting and hiring partners to develop and execute campus recruiting strategies.
Manage the on-campus interview process, including registrations, scheduling, preparation of interview materials, candidate research, and law school follow-up.
Coordinate law student outreach initiatives and maintain strong relationships with career services professionals, faculty, and former summer associates.
Represent the firm through participation in NALP and local recruiting organizations, staying current on industry trends and best practices.
Callback & Offer Process Management
Oversee the callback interview process, including candidate communications, scheduling, interviewer coordination, and feedback collection.
Plan and execute callback events and offer visits.
Coordinate weekly decision meetings and assist with candidate selection discussions.
Summer Associate Program
Lead planning and implementation of the San Francisco and Silicon Valley summer associate programs, including orientation, training coordination, social programming, and communications.
Support mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluations and exit processes.
Lateral Recruiting
Collaborate with the Firmwide Director and Practice Management to assess lateral hiring needs.
Build and maintain relationships with legal search firms.
Manage lateral candidate processes, including sourcing, interview coordination, and candidate communications.
Support specialized hiring initiatives, including judicial clerks, foreign attorneys, and staff attorneys.
Facilitate successful integration of new associates, including onboarding and mentor/buddy assignments.
Operations & Reporting
Maintain and update applicant tracking systems (viDesktop).
Prepare recruiting reports and metrics.
Assist with annual survey submissions (Vault, AmLaw, NALP, Chambers Associate).
Support recruiting committee meetings and related initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of four (4) years of recruiting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
Strong understanding of recruiting principles, compliance requirements, and candidate experience best practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and applicant tracking systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
Strategic mindset with the ability to execute tactically.
Client-service orientation with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $76,480 to $110,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
