Description
Position Summary
Under broad guidance, the Benefits Specialist will be responsible for assisting employees with benefits,
maintain employee database, on-line benefit enrollment database, manage all insurance billings, and
maintain employee benefit/medical files. Involves frequent people contact, and a working knowledge of
the company benefits, policies and procedures and Federal/State/Local regulations and maintain vendor
relationships.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and retirees regarding benefits inquiries. Provides
clear and accurate information on benefits options, eligibility, and claims processes
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employee and retiree benefits enrollments, changes, and
terminations. Ensure confidentiality and security of employee benefits information.
Identify and recommend improvements to benefits processes and procedures. Implement best
practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Prepare and analyze benefits data and reports. Assist in budgeting and forecasting for employee
benefits programs.
Responsible for managing billing reconciliation to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Conduct the benefits portion of New Employee Orientation process with new hires on HRSD benefits
programs. Provide new employees with detailed instructions on enrolling in benefit programs.
After open enrollment closes, audit employee benefit selections and make appropriate changes to
employee files
Develop and distribute communication materials to inform employees about benefits programs and
changes. Conduct informational sessions and workshops as needed.
Fulfills other responsibilities as directed
*Hybrid schedule eligible after 6-month probationary period.
Requirements
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management or related field
Experience Required
Three years of benefits related experience to include communicating benefits to employees and billing
reconciliation
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
Required - Valid driver’s license from state of residence
Desired - Professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or similar

Physical and Mental Requirements
Must have the physical dexterity to accomplish the duties defined herein
Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operator a computer telephone
and keyboard
Light lifting (up to 20 pounds)
Must be able to work occasionally in industrial environments in varying climates when meeting
with employees or presenting information at HRSD work centers
