The Marketing Department is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support a wide range of initiatives, with a primary focus on transactional practice groups. This role works closely with attorneys, business development managers, and marketing colleagues to drive strategic business development and marketing efforts. The position reports to the Director of Business Development and may be located in New York or Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Business Development Managers to implement strategic plans for transactional practices, including both visibility initiatives and targeted client development efforts
Support the full lifecycle of RFPs, pitches, and proposals:
Collaborate with attorneys and internal teams to develop and refine materials
Identify and tailor relevant content; draft and edit proposals and presentations
Produce initial drafts and manage revisions
Coordinate research and data requests across departments
Oversee production, delivery, and tracking of submissions
Monitor outcomes and support follow-up efforts
Manage internal and external deal reporting, including matter collection and league table submissions
Draft and coordinate submissions to legal directories and publications such as Chambers, The Legal 500, and Law360
Evaluate and coordinate opportunities for conferences, sponsorships, seminars, and speaking engagements; support event execution as needed
Maintain the firm’s experience database (Foundation) and practice-specific deal lists
Leverage CRM and experience systems to identify relationship targets and relevant experience for business development opportunities
Oversee the development and production of newsletters and client communications
Draft, update, and maintain marketing collateral—including brochures, presentations, attorney bios, and experience lists—ensuring consistency with firm branding
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on best practices
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of three years of experience in marketing, business development, or client relations, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
Experience supporting transactional practices is a plus
Strong understanding of business development processes; proposal experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with tools such as Foundation and InterAction is a plus
Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
Strong project management abilities with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills, with the ability to work across all levels of the firm
Self-start who can work both independently and collaboratively

The anticipated base salary for this position is $82,000 to $110,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
