It supports a population of over 750,000 residents across the largest geographic area in the Greater Toronto Area. DRPS is committed to delivering modern, community-focused policing that reflects the diversity of the region it serves.
The Service operates with a Chief of Police and a senior command team that will include four Deputy Chiefs with distinct command portfolios. DRPS is now seeking to appoint two Deputy Chiefs of Police to strengthen its executive leadership capacity and support future organizational priorities.
DRPS continues to evolve to meet increasingly complex demands. This includes advancements in technology-enabled policing, data-driven decision-making, and intelligence-led operations. The Service is also focused on strengthening public trust, enhancing its focus on equity, diversity and inclusion, and improving safety and well-being while ensuring accountability in all areas of performance.
Reporting to the Chief of Police, the Deputy Chiefs are key members of the Command Team. They provide leadership across major operational and administrative portfolios. They help shape strategy, drive operational effectiveness, and support a high-performing organizational culture. They work closely with internal teams, community partners, and government stakeholders to deliver responsive and modern policing services.
As an ideal candidate, you are an accomplished policing leader with senior command experience in a complex environment. You bring strong operational expertise and a strategic perspective. You have led large teams through change, modernization, and the adoption and integration of new technologies in policing. You are known for your sound judgment, integrity, and accountability.
An effective communicator and relationship builder, you have experience working with a Police Service Board and contributing at an executive level. You have demonstrated skills in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and you understand the importance of culturally-responsive policing and building trust with diverse communities.
