This role supports the Revenue Cycle Improvement Cost Optimization team by delivering actionable reporting for automation project performance, operational impact, financial outcomes, and benefits realization. The Report Developer II partners closely with Epic Revenue Cycle Automation Consultants, Revenue Cycle Operations leaders, Epic analysts, and vendors to translate automation goals into reliable metrics, dashboards, and self-service reporting. While this role may support broader Revenue Cycle operational reporting, it is primarily focused on analytics that enable Epic AI/automation strategy, adoption, and measurable ROI. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE* *1) Automation & AI Project Reporting* • Develop reporting solutions to support Epic AI/automation initiatives across front, middle, and back-end Revenue Cycle workflows (e.g., denials automation, authorization automation, claim edits, workqueue automation, AI-generated appeal letters, predictive models, workflow orchestration tools). • Translate automation project requirements into metrics that monitor: adoption and utilization, automation throughput/volume, exception rates and fallouts, accuracy/quality outcomes, cycle time improvements, productivity (account touches), financial impact (cash acceleration, AR days impact, denial prevention, net yield) • Build and maintain KPI dashboards and operational scorecards that "tell the story" of automation performance and outcomes for executive and operational audiences. • Partner with Automation Consultants to define measurement plans and baseline/target methodology for each project (before/after, control groups, trend analysis, attribution assumptions). *2) Epic Reporting & Data Development* • Design, develop, and maintain reports and extracts using Epic reporting technologies, such as: Reporting Workbench, Clarity (SQL-based reporting), Caboodle (preferred where applicable), SlicerDicer, Radar dashboards, Cogito components • Write, validate, and optimize SQL queries to support accurate, performant analytics; partner with data/platform teams as needed for optimization, refresh schedules, and data availability. • Establish standardized metric definitions and reusable reporting components (templates, data dictionaries, calculation standards) to improve consistency across automation initiatives. *3) Performance Monitoring & Benefits Realization* • Develop and maintain measurement frameworks for automation initiatives, including baseline measurement and trend monitoring • benefits tracking (hard savings, soft savings, cost avoidance), ROI reporting and forecasting support operational impact measurement (capacity creation, backlog reduction, error reduction) • Monitor dashboards and reports for anomalies and potential performance risks; proactively surface insights and recommend actions to Automation Consultants and operational leaders. • Produce recurring performance summaries for assigned projects (weekly/monthly), including narrative interpretation and key callouts. *4) Vendor Performance & Scorecard Reporting* • Build vendor performance dashboards/scorecards aligned to contracted objectives and operational KPIs (e.g., automation accuracy, turnaround time, throughput, denial prevention outcomes, SLA compliance). • Support vendor governance by providing data for QBRs, escalations, and performance discussions; ensure metrics are defensible, reconciled, and clearly defined. *5) Production Support, Quality, and Governance* • Support reporting in production environments: troubleshoot issues, resolve data discrepancies, and maintain report reliability and performance. • Create and maintain documentation for reports, logic, refresh timing, definitions, security/access considerations, and dependencies. • Participate in change control processes, testing, and release management as required. • Ensure reports meet privacy/security standards and follow enterprise reporting best practices. *6) Stakeholder Partnership & Communication* • Work directly with Automation Consultants and Revenue Cycle leaders to gather requirements, validate outputs, and deliver user-friendly reporting solutions. • Support change management and adoption efforts by producing reporting views that enable frontline leaders and end users to monitor performance and outcomes post-go-live. • Present findings and insights in clear business language; tailor outputs to both operational and executive audiences. *KEY SUCCESS FACTORS* • 3+ years of healthcare analytics/report development experience for Epic Revenue Cycle • Strong experience with Epic reporting tools and/or Epic data sources, including demonstrated ability to develop and validate operational metrics. • Proficiency in SQL with at least 3 years experience developing, tuning, and validating queries for analytics reporting. • Strong understanding of Revenue Cycle workflows and key performance levers across front/middle/back office (e.g., auth, edits, claims, denials, AR follow-up, cash posting, credit balances). • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear metric definitions and reporting deliverables. • Ability to synthesize data into compelling insights and executive-ready narratives ("tell the story" with data). • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* • Epic certifications preferred (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe), such as: Reporting Workbench Clarity Data Model Caboodle Data Model Revenue Cycle modules (Prelude/Cadence/Resolute) beneficial • Experience with BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, Cognos, etc.) • Experience building benefits realization, ROI, and vendor scorecard reporting. • Experience supporting automation programs, analytics for AI initiatives, or workflow optimization in healthcare revenue cycle environments.
