Description
DescriptionThe Information Technology Support Associate provides technical support and systems coordination for Student Health Services and affiliated departments. This position serves as a liaison with the SIUC Office of Information Technology to ensure compliance with university IT standards and applicable regulations.
The role supports departmental hardware, software, telecommunications, and specialized applications, assists with user access management and onboarding, and contributes to data reporting and operational support. Work is performed under general supervision of the IT Technical Associate.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
- Serve as liaison between Student Health Services and the SIUC Office of Information Technology to coordinate departmental IT needs and ensure compliance with university policies and cybersecurity standards.
- Provide technical support to faculty and staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues and responding to help desk requests.
- Assist with administration of departmental systems (including EMR and related applications), managing user access, permissions, and basic configurations while supporting HIPAA compliance.
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computer hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment in accordance with university standards.
- Maintain inventory of IT equipment and assist with lifecycle management of departmental technology assets.
- Support data reporting functions, including basic SQL queries and report preparation.
- Assist with onboarding and user training related to departmental IT systems and security practices.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the following categories:
A. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
3. One (1) year of experience with SQL database and reporting.
4. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
