Marine Electrician – Offshore Alaska

Golden Alaska Seafood’s is seeking an experienced Marine Electrician to join our team supporting offshore operations in Alaska. This role requires a skilled electrical professional with strong troubleshooting ability and hands-on experience working in marine or industrial environments.
This is a rotational offshore position working 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week, during 60-day rotations at sea. Extended hours may be required during equipment breakdowns or operational demands.
Position Overview:
The Marine Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of vessel electrical systems and related equipment. Systems range from propulsion control and power generation to automation, processing equipment, and auxiliary vessel systems.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, safety-focused, and capable of working independently in demanding offshore conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot vessel electrical systems.
Diagnose and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and electric motor systems.
Troubleshoot and service Main and Emergency Switchboards.
Maintain and repair Motor Control Centers (MCCs) and power distribution systems.
Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on generators and power generation equipment.
Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
Troubleshoot and repair seafood processing equipment, including BAADER filleting machines.
Pull wire, terminate conductors, and install electrical hardware as required.
Troubleshoot and maintain electric motors and motor control systems.
Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot analog sensors and instrumentation.
Perform electrical fault-finding and diagnostics under operational conditions.
Maintain vessel electrical spare parts inventory and coordinate parts ordering.
Maintain accurate electrical maintenance and breakdown history records.
Maintain and update vessel electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
Ensure compliance with company SOP’s, safety policies and maritime regulations.
Work Location:
Offshore operations in Alaska
Pier side shipyard work in Seattle, Washington during off-season periods

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in a marine or industrial electrical role.
Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, generators, and electric motor systems.
Demonstrated troubleshooting ability in electrical systems.
Ability to work in physically demanding environments.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week during 60-day offshore rotations.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Familiarity with mobile or PC applications used for monitoring or configuring electronic sensors or equipment.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, or willingness to learn, for maintaining electrical schematics.
A strong commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of marine electrical experience.
Experience with industrial automation systems.
Experience working with seafood processing equipment.
Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Experience in maintaining electrical documentation and system diagrams.
Strong troubleshooting skills in complex electrical and automated systems.
