POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting with highly diversified duties to safely install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment within Resin Packaging Warehouse. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Minimum of two (2) years of experience repairing industrial equipment in a packaging plant or warehouse
Experience with equipment maintenance, repairs, operations, and maintenance programs, such as: packaging production line
Must have the ability to read, write, and speak basic English
Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information
Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment
Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions
Ability to exercise independent judgement within established systems and procedures
Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays
Preferred
Electrical or Mechanic Certification(s)
Ability to prepare a variety of reports (based on work orders or preventive maintenance schedule)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machine; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Determines changes on dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying wit procedure, rules, and regulations.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment al all times by cleaning, organizing, removing safety hazards, oil spills, spare parts, etc. within warehouse.
Maintain awareness of surroundings (i.e., vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times.
Secondary
Operates 5K forklift to move and relocate parts/pallets.
Depending on business volume and needs, may be assigned to perform other related tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Subject to physical screening is required along with other tests as applicable
The employee is continuously required to sit (while driving), grasp and exercise eye-hand coordination and eye-hand-foot coordination. (If operating equipment)
The employee is occasionally required to grasp, exercise repetitive wrist motion, and finger movement
The employee is frequently required to talk and hear
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and exercise repetitive foot motion
The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, bend forward, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, pinch and reach overhead
The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 110 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Report safety hazards
Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage
Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor and/or safety personnel
Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules
Refuse any unsafe task or operation
Participate in safety meetings and training
Be constantly aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Maintenance Technician and indirect supervision form the Resin Packaging Manager. Does not exercise supervision over any other position.
CONDITIONS:
Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts
The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
Moderate vibration though hands when using power tools and throughout body when operating power industrial equipment.
