Description
Key Responsibilities and Duties Patrol and Response: Patrols assigned areas by car, bike, motorcycle or foot to prevent crime, ensuring visibility to deter illegal activity. Responds to 911 calls, emergencies, and alarms.
Law Enforcement & Investigation: Investigates traffic accidents, robberies, and disturbances. Gathers evidence, interviews witnesses/victims, and arrests suspects.
Community Policing: Provides information, directions, and assistance to the public to foster positive community relationships.
Documentation and Court: Prepares detailed reports on incidents and arrests. Testifies in court regarding investigations.
Training & Safety: Attends ongoing training to stay current on police techniques and legal standards. Monthly training, Lexipol Policy Manual & Daily Training Bulletins
Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Age: At least 21 years old.
Certification: Must be able to obtain or already possess Law Enforcement Officer Certification (e.g., P.O.S.T. in Utah).
Background: Must pass comprehensive background checks, including criminal history, drug testing, physical and psychological evaluations.
Skills: Strong communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to make high-stakes decisions under pressure.
Working Conditions
Shifts: Often requires working rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Patrol works a rotating Platoon Shift with an A and B platoon that rotates every other weekend.
Physical Demands: May require significant physical effort, including running, chasing suspects, and subduing individuals.
Environment: Works in all weather conditions and in potentially dangerous situations.
