JOB DESCRIPTIONCriminally Obsessed is seeking a Producer to spearhead the daily production of compelling true crime video content for both audio and video platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a passion for investigative narratives, an understanding of digital audiences, and the ability to deliver high-quality video journalism on tight deadlines.
True crime has become one of the most engaging and fastest-growing genres in digital media - captivating audiences through storytelling that explores real human drama, the search for justice, and attempts to solve the mystery behind the country's most compelling cases. This position offers an opportunity to shape daily storytelling that resonates with a highly engaged audience while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and ethics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Development
- Maintain a deep understanding of the true crime genre, including current trends, audience expectations, and ethical storytelling practices.
- Identify and pitch compelling true crime stories that fit the editorial voice and audience strategy of Criminally Obsessed
- Review court filings, submit FOIA requests, and scour all available sources to obtain the materials necessary to tell a great story
- Identify and secure guests and work with on-air talent to prepare smart and emotive questions that will lead to a compelling narrative in each episode.
Production & Post
- Attend all tapings and provide real time direction to on-air talent to ensure all story beats are told in a clear and concise manner from tease to tag.
- Deliver production notes to assigned editors, and review all edits for tone, pacing, and storytelling impact, ensuring content meets publishing deadlines.
- Ensure content is balanced, responsible, and respectful of victims, families, and legal processes.
- Direct and produce field shoots as needed.
Publishing & Analytics
- Work with the Branding & Design team on the creation of thumbnails and social clips.
- Collaborate with social, marketing, and analytics teams to optimize content for YouTube, social media, and streaming platforms.
- Adapt and repackage content for different formats, including short-form clips, teasers, and long-form compilations.
- Monitor performance data to refine storytelling strategies and audience engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7+ years of experience in video production, journalism, or digital storytelling - preferably within the true crime, news, or documentary space.
- Proven ability to produce daily or high-volume content under tight deadlines.
- Strong writing and story editing skills, with a keen eye for pacing and visual storytelling.
- Proficiency with video editing software (Premiere, Final Cut, or similar).
- Familiarity with SEO, YouTube publishing, and digital content workflows.
- Excellent editorial judgment and commitment to ethical storytelling.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $76,000 to $95,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which would be awarded based on individual and company performance. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
