Residence Director (10 Month)
Alfred State College is thrilled to announce openings for 10-Month Residence Directors for the 2026-2027 academic year! This live-in position places you at the heart of campus life, where every day brings new opportunities to shape the student experience and build meaningful connections.
As a Residence Director, you'll be a mentor, a community architect, and a champion for student success. Your leadership will help create safe, supportive, and dynamic living learning environments across campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build Engaged, Supportive Communities
- Cultivate strong relationships with residents and provide daily personal, social, academic, and occupational support.
- Serve as a visible, accessible resource who students trust and rely on.
- Lead Student Staff with Purpose
- Select, train, and supervise a talented residential student staff dedicated to community development and student engagement.
- Guide your team in bringing the residential curriculum to life throughout your hall.
- Strengthen the Living-Learning Environment
- Support community governance and foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and academic success.
- Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and administrators - turning policy into practice in a way that supports community well-being.
- Champion Community Standards
- Uphold the student code of conduct and community expectations through education, accountability, and restorative practices.
- Provide on-duty coverage that ensures a safe, supportive campus environment during evening and weekend hours.
- Keep Your Hall Running Smoothly
- Oversee residence hall operations including opening/closing procedures, professional interactions with guests, and day-to-day building management.
- Promote campus programs, student/faculty initiatives, and engagement opportunities.
- Grow Your Skills Through Program Coordinator Roles
Some Residence Directors expand their impact by serving as Program Coordinators within the Division of Student Affairs. These opportunities offer hands-on experience in:
- Event planning & program administration
- Assessment & data-informed decision-making
- Program and event implementation
- Student success initiatives
Program Coordinators may contribute to:
- Student Conduct
- Civic Engagement
- College Housing
These experiences deepen your professional skills and help you develop broad Student Affairs competencies alongside your Residential Life expertise.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to make independent decisions
- Willingness to work evening and weekend hours in a live-in position
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree
- Experience in Residential Life or related areas
