*Respiratory Therapist Assistant* *Location- BUMC-Dallas, TX* *FT Day/ FT Night* *JOB SUMMARY* The Respiratory Therapist Assistant, under general supervision, performs a variety of technical respiratory therapy treatments to contribute to the delivery of quality patient care. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE* * Performs a variety of respiratory therapy treatments (including but not limited to PEP, IS, and O2 checks, Incentive Spirometer treatments, and oxygen therapy) in a quality manner and in accordance with established procedures. * Under general supervision, instructs patients in the use of various treatments in a thorough and professional manner. * Updates patient records with all therapies provided, and reports all unusual signs, symptoms, or side effects immediately. * Documents all treatments and therapies given, any supplies used and accurately files all corresponding charges. * Performs regular cleaning and sterilization of equipment in accordance with established procedures. * Maintains the proper functioning of oxygen and emergency equipment through daily checks, and notifies staff to order the necessary supplies as needed. * *Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Care program.* *KEY SUCCESS FACTORS* * Basic knowledge of Respiratory Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications. * Must be able to read, write and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate. * Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both orally and in writing. * Ability to follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times. * Basic computer skills, including but not limited to: data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand-held scanning, and email. *BENEFITS* Our competitive benefits package includes the following - Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits - 401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5% - Tuition Reimbursement - PTO accrual beginning Day 1 Note: Benefits may vary based on position type and/or level *QUALIFICATIONS* - EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent - EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience - CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS)
