- Senior Financial Analyst
Description
Arnold & Porter is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the firm’s Pricing Team in Washington, DC. This role partners closely with attorneys and firm leadership to design strategic pricing solutions, develop innovative fee arrangements, and deliver data-driven insights that support growth, profitability, and client value.
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a central role in shaping legal pricing strategy, evaluating financial performance, and enhancing business intelligence across practices and offices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Pricing & Fee Design
Collaborate with attorneys to develop effective pricing strategies and fee arrangements that support sector and practice growth.
Build detailed matter budgets and financial models for hourly and alternative fee arrangements, including fixed, capped, blended, collar, subscription, contingency, and portfolio structures.
Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate staffing models, leverage, realization, and margin impact.
Advise attorneys on pricing best practices, risk assessment for alternative fee arrangements, and effective client value communication.
Profitability & Financial Modeling
Analyze new business opportunities and proposals to assess financial viability and contribution margin.
Develop creative, practical pricing solutions aligned with firm profitability goals.
Perform matter-, client-, and practice-level profitability analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
Practice & Performance Analytics
Prepare and present monthly financial reports, including productivity, KPI, client, and attorney performance metrics.
Partner with attorneys and management to strengthen business planning through actionable financial insights.
Utilize data cube solutions and visualization tools to analyze complex financial and operational data.
Training & Best Practices
Lead individual and group training sessions on pricing strategy, financial literacy, and use of firm dashboards and tools.
Promote effective matter management techniques and business intelligence resources.
Business Development Support
Assist with budgeting and pricing components of RFP responses and client negotiations.
Collaborate with Marketing to structure client budgets, rate models, and alternative fee arrangements that balance value and profitability.
Firmwide Support
Provide ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and presentations for senior management, practice groups, and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Minimum of three years of experience in legal pricing or financial planning and analysis.
Experience with business intelligence or reporting tools preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems.
Experience with Power BI, including dashboard development, DAX measures, data modeling, and visualization of complex datasets preferred.
Experience leveraging generative AI tools to enhance financial analysis, automate reporting workflows, and support pricing scenario development.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000 to $125,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
