The Talent Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Talent Data Analyst in our Washington, DC office. The Talent Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing, transforming, and visualizing Talent Department data to create reports, dashboards, and actionable insights for the Talent team and firm leadership.
The Analyst will collaborate with Talent teams to provide strategic analysis through the development and management of reports and dashboards. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, and the M365 office productivity platform and the ability to understand and effectively communicate, translate, and deliver complex data to stakeholders.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working collaboratively with the Talent teams, including Attorney Recruiting, Career Development & Advancement, Legal Personnel, Professional Development and Wellbeing, to support data-related initiatives, including reporting, surveys, and analysis.
Designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic dashboards and reports to analyze key business metrics to support Talent initiatives including recruiting, attrition, evaluation and performance data.
Translate data into written reports, tables, graphs and charts (including developing creative data visualizations to illustrate key findings); interpret data results to provide written commentary that articulates key findings.
Provide actionable insights based on in-depth data analysis to inform strategic decisions and improve operational efficiency.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
Support decision-making processes by providing clear, actionable insights.
Conduct ad-hoc analysis and participate in special projects as requested by Talent team and firm leadership.
Create and maintain instructional documentation for end-users to accompany created reports and visualizations.
Lead and manage special data-related projects as requested. Coordinate cross-departmental communication and resources as needed to support project initiatives.
Act as the primary contact for data-related requests. Collaborate with the Workforce Information Systems team, IT and other departments to integrate and optimize technology solutions for data analytics and management.
Identify and analyze areas where data reporting processes can be optimized. Recommend and lead in the implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Four-year college degree required, equivalent work experience considered.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in business intelligence and/or data analytic roles.
Law firm or professional services firm experience a plus.
Proficient in Power BI, DAX, and Power Query.
Working knowledge of SQL, including the use of joins and window functions, with experience using T-SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
Experience using Microsoft Power Automate to develop workflow automations, including triggers, actions, and integrations.
Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Power BI (Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Mobile) for data visualization and dashboarding.
Ability to produce clear and concise business documentation.
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements and processes into easily understandable visualizations.
Proficiency in data visualization best practices and design principles
Experience with data modeling a plus.
Knowledge of Python programming language (Python) and additional BI tools is a plus.
Familiarity with Azure Data Services and Azure Fabric is beneficial.
Experience with UKG Pro and UKG People Analytics is a plus
Experience with systems specific to the Legal Industry, such as Aderant Expert and Intapp Time are a plus
Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft M365 and/or related software.
Strong interpersonal and client service skills
Ability to work well with all levels of firm personnel and establish effective working relationships throughout the firm.
Ability to work under time constraints, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility with work assignments.
Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
Creative and flexible, with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt and react to changing situations
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills; must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Possess reliability, dependability and motivation.
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $82,400 to $90,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
