The Acute Pain Clinical Research Manager will work directly with Dr. Jacques Chelly, MD, PhD, MBA and will report administratively to the Clinical Trials Program Manager. In that position, he or she will mostly focus on providing advanced oversight on the pain-related clinical research projects, especially those associated with the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Innovation for Pain Care. This position will also have a business development aspect, in which the incumbent will work with Dr. Jacques Chelly, MD, PhD, MBA and the Clinical Trials Program Manager to help cultivate relationships with external companies to develop research protocols and NIH/foundation grant proposals with the goal of generating additional funding for the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Innovation for Pain Care The position will be responsible for managing the clinical trials within the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine/Innovation for Pain Care program. This position will have direct reports that are working within the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine/Innovation for Pain Care program The incumbent will function with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision; will oversee the tasks of research coordinators and research assistants who are assigned to pain related projects within the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Innovation for Pain Care. As a program manager, he/she will oversee all aspects of the pain-related clinical trials, including supervision of staff, assisting with NIH grant preparation, regulatory documents, patient screening and enrollment on various study protocols, data collection and analysis. Duties will also include overseeing research staff in monitoring and collecting complete and accurate data on all enrolled patients, retrieving information and verification using clinical data systems and project liaison with study hospital departments and other duties as needed or required. This position requires familiarity with medical terminology, the ability to travel to various surrounding hospitals for data collection, ability to work independently and solve problems in an effective manner, good communication and interpersonal skills and attention to details. The clinical nature of this position involves study assessments to be conducted in the operating room, recovery room, critical care units, and standard post-operative care units. Master's degree plus a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical research experience. Project/program management experience preferred. Previous experience with patient EMAR (Cerner, EPIC) is beneficial but not required. Early morning (5am), evening and weekend shifts are required based on the needs of a study. The incumbent must possess excellent knowledge of current software including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Power Point. Exceptional organizational abilities, oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, self-motivation and the ability to exercise independent judgment with little or no supervision are essential for this position. The incumbent must exercise discretion and confidentiality in handling all patient information.Master's degree plus a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical research experience in the field of pain. Project management experience preferred. Previous experience with patient EMAR (Cerner, EPIC) is beneficial but not required. Early morning (5am), evening and weekend shifts are required based on the needs of a study
