The Maintenance Controller is responsible for coordinating the daily and long-term aircraft maintenance requirements for the Lynden Air Cargo Maintenance Department. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.





Performs all work assigned in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargos Employee Handbook, LAC GMM and applicable CFRs.





Coordinates and communicates with LAC Maintenance Stations, Quality Control, Flight Operations, Cargo Operations, Marketing, and Supply & Logistics departments, for the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all operating LAC aircraft globally.





Provides technical support and guidance to LAC maintenance personnel globally, as needed.





Maintains a current listing of aircraft status and provides up-to-date information to Operations, Maintenance and Marketing departments as requested or specified.





Monitors, if assigned, contract vendors during the completion of scheduled and unscheduled AOG or fly-in maintenance performed off-site or on-site.





Coordinates, provides oversight and communicates with Station Managers, Lead Mechanics and/or Mechanics, globally, in the planning, executing and tracking of all scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance activities.





Responsible for distributing and verifying the proper completion of all applicable forms and documents in accordance with current LAC policies and procedures.





Responsible for ensuring that mechanical delay and service difficulty reporting is handled in accordance with current LAC policies and procedures, during assigned shift.





Monitors and tracks defect trends to avoid and/or prevent repeat write-ups.





Holds the authority to issue and authorize Special Flight Permits for 3-Engine ferry flight of LAC aircraft in accordance with current LAC policies and procedures.





Monitors and provides recommendations on all Component Forecast and Engineering Control (E/C) Forecast items, as assigned.





Monitors and coordinates with MX Station Manager(s) and Purchasing and Logistics Manager(s), the movement of serviceable spares relevant to open N/Rs, E/Cs and life-limited and/or time controlled items.





Coordinates and/or initiates all repair part shipments AOG for aircraft and DMI/MEL items to include but not limited to the tracking of parts and equipment while they are in transit.





Recommends and encourages improvements to the LAC MX Program in accordance with current LAC policies and procedures.





Maintains and manages a Maintenance Control Shift/Work Turnover Report recording all significant maintenance events that occur during a scheduled work period (days, swings, nights) and effectively communicates the information to the person(s) who will be coming on shift in accordance with current LAC policies and procedures.





Monitors and makes recommendations to the MCM, in regards to the long term forecast of time items, to include but not limited to: engines, engine modules, airframe ducting, landing gear and propellers, as assigned.





Coordinate and/or initiate travel of LAC Maintenance personnel to support AOG aircraft globally in accordance with current LAC policies and procedures, if needed or as assigned.





May act as Maintenance Control Manager, if assigned.





Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE



Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or seven years related experience and/or training on type (Lockheed Martin C130/L382); including at least one year of lead, acting lead or supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some educational and/or training requirements may be waived at the discretion of the Director of Maintenance.





LANGUAGE SKILLS



Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including but not limited to, maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.





MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.





REASONING ABILITY



Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems in a highly controlled and regulated environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.





CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings;



Lynden RII, Receiving Inspection and Airworthiness Release endorsements, or have previously held said authorization



Lynden Engine Run and Taxi authorization, or have previously held said authorization



Current US Driver License



Current US Passport





OTHER QUALIFICATIONS



Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time.



Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases.





PHYSICAL DEMANDS



While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.





WORK ENVIRONMENT



While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
