Responsible for bringing apparel designs ideas to life in a tangible manner by working closely with the Technical Designer teams while creating and maintaining the fit, form, function, and specifications of the garments. Create 1st through production patterns that reflect standard fit and specs while executing Design's vision and ensuring patterns are ready to be adapted for mass production. Translates the ideas of the technical designer into a reliable and repeatable pattern that can be sent to the manufacturer.


  • Develop and create accurate patterns in digital software (Gerber) based on flat sketches, design references, or technical flats from the technical design team for the manufacture of different garment types.
  • Meet with technical designers to discuss the base design. Interpret the design requirement specifications, create patterns to specifications and adjust for fit and proper construction, ensuring design and style are maintained through the process.
  • Participate in fit sessions with designers and product management team to review samples and final product; identify and solve any fit/balance problems with the garment and adjust patterns accordingly. Visualize and recommend how something will look after modified or changed.
  • Send initial patterns for sample room/manufacturer to check. Create tech packs and issue graded specifications. Ensure Production Samples are created per standard for cutting/sewing operations, validating specifications accuracy.
  • Review samples in detail to ensure they are executed properly from the sample room before sending to fit. Provide feedback to the sample room in terms of sample/fit execution.
  • Accessible reviewing samples before fittings either virtual or in person. Attend fittings virtually or in person for sample garments as needed and perform necessary corrections as a result of fitting notes and revisions.
  • Create pattern models to meet garment specifications for existing product lines. Modify existing work instructions/tech packs. Make appropriate recommendations in collaboration with peer teams on matters pertaining to specifications, patterns, construction methods, and techniques to improve the overall quality of the garment.
  • Partner with design, marketing team to help mitigate costs where needed in order to hit margin goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Textile Management, Fashion Design or related field.

Work Experience
  • At least 3 years of pattern making experience, preferably in retail & fashion apparel.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience with pattern making software such as Gerber Accumark or other pattern making software.
  • Ability to make changes to existing patterns, identify and resolve fit issues.
  • Strong knowledge of woven and knit apparel construction, fabric construction, and properties.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Experience in apparel grading and grade rule development.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and 3D modeling.


  • Experiene working with PLM and PDM systems.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish.
